You might have seen a lot of articles and discussions online about the total solar eclipse that will cross America next year. Texas Travel Talk is on the move, and finding the events in Texas (mostly in Central Texas) for you to make plans now to one of the events. We even sell Eclipse glasses as an affiliate. See below.
Note: This article will be updated as new information comes in.
Eclipse Events In Texas Facts And Tips
We may not know all about the science of the eclipse, but we are here to report where the events and parties are in Texas.
The Texas Hill Country in Central Texas will be one of the prime locations to see the total eclipse because so many small towns encompassing the hill country are considered dark sky communities, and the fact that the eclipse is going right over the area.
Central Texas is expected to draw tourists worldwide as this phenomenon will not be fully visible again in this region for another 360 years.
Totality will begin in Texas at 1:27 pm CDT and end in Maine at 3:35 pm EDT on April 8, 2024.
Be prepared if you are traveling then because travelers will stop anywhere to see the eclipse pass through. With everything I have read so far, Central Texas will be a madhouse, so prepare.
I might not know all the language associated with the great North American eclipse, but I do know who’s celebrating this lifetime event in Central Texas (and San Antonio). Let’s hope for clear skies and cooperative weather.
If you’re a tent camping, you’re in luck. Finding a place to pitch a tent rather than finding a hotel room or RV park will be easier. Just know the prices will go up. That’s what I was told, and I believe it.
Eclipse Events In Texas
Check out all the special events that will happen in counties of the hill country and book your stay now. When I was told about the total eclipse for 2024 (in 2022), people were already gearing up for this day and had secured their spots. If you have no interest in the eclipse, you may want to visit the scenic hill country some other time because this area will be packed with people wanting to see the eclipse.
And if you don’t live in or around the hill country and can’t view the total eclipse from your own backyard, make plans now to find the ideal location for you and your family to see it.
Also, there is a free solar eclipse timer app to download, but watching the timed eclipse will cost you a one-time charge of $1.99. Be sure to look that up.
2023 Annular Eclipse Events In Texas – Oct. 14, 2023
On Oct. 14, 2023, an annular solar eclipse will cross North and South America.
“An annular solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth while the Moon is at its farthest point from Earth. Because the Moon is farther away from Earth, it appears smaller and does not block the entire face of the Sun. As a result, the Moon appears like a dark disk on top of a larger, bright disk. This creates what looks like a ring around the Moon, leading some to call it a “ring of fire” eclipse.”

It’s time to start planning for the 2024 total solar eclipse! The event will draw thousands of tourists to Central Texas, so be sure you are ready.
On Monday, April 8, 2024, a solar eclipse will happen. It’s when the moon passes between the sun and the earth, blocking some or all of the sun to the earth’s surface. A total eclipse is when the moon completely blocks the sun and casts a shadow over the Earth. This is a lifetime opportunity as it will not happen again for 360 years.
Everyone is preparing to find the best viewing spots for the path of the eclipse. Is that you? This rare occurrence will bring people from all walks of life to the area of the path.
The 2024 eclipse path of totality will enter the United States and Texas at the southeasternmost tip of the Hill Country and make its way northeast, eventually departing up in the Piney Woods region of the state.

Waco’s preparations have already started, as it’s supposed to draw the crowds to Central Texas. The city expects thousands to visit on and around April 8, 2024, as Texas is a prime destination for totality. Waco is expected to see approximately 4 minutes and 13 seconds of totality.
