Here are 22+ Christmas holiday events in North Texas for 2023 for the whole family to enjoy.

The holiday season is a beautiful time of year to visit North Texas. The warm and friendly atmosphere and the cool, crisp nights make Texas a state many people put on their winter vacation list. Comb through these 20 or more Christmas holiday events in North Texas to see which ones resonate with you and your family.

And, yes, kids, Santa Claus comes to Texas wearing his boots!

With the Christmas season approaching, I’m hoping (again) that we in the Lone Star State will see a white Christmas. Christmas time is my favorite holiday of all. Is it yours, too?

Christmas Holiday Events In North Texas

There may be snow or not, but there’s one thing for sure – Texas is celebrating the holidays in a big way! You never know what the weather will be like on any given day, so if you’re heading to Texas, pack a coat and a pair of shorts! We don’t all wear cowboy boots and cowboy hats. Nor do we all ride a horse. But we do have fun and plenty of DFW Christmas events for all.

The best Christmas towns celebrating the holidays with the public will be listed below. Hopefully, we found them all, but if not, let us know. I hope to keep adding to the list if I encounter more Christmas events.

Make plans for Christmas things to do in Dallas-Fort Worth.

The DFW area has a slew of holiday events. Expect live music and small towns lit with big red lights and bows.

Let’s spread some holiday cheer all over North Texas this Christmas season!

• Prairie Lights 2023 – Grand Prairie

Thanksgiving Evening through New Year’s Eve, starting at 6 p.m.

Prices are up this year, but Prairie Lights promises to light up Grand Prairie at Lynn Creek Park on Joe Pool Lake with over 4 million lights!  Grab the whole family and your friends for this incredible drive-thru car ride…and split the bill.

Prairie Lights turns into Christmas lights in Grand Prairie and is one of the best light shows in the Metroplex. Halfway through, you can get out of your car to enjoy the Holiday Village, walk-thru light display, Santa (until 12/23), sweet treats, and more.

Tickets: General admission is  $50 per vehicle. Fast Passes are available for $149.

• Holiday In The Park At Six Flags Over Texas

November 19 – December 31, 2023, 6-11 p.m.

Nothing is better than experiencing this amusement park with the family when it’s cold outside. Whether you live in Texas or are traveling here this winter, Six Flags’ Winter schedule is only on weekends through the end of the year. See Holiday in the Park for ticket information.

Check the schedule before you go, and you must buy your tickets online in advance this year. Six Flag in Arlington is one of the best family activities in North Texas. Enjoy all the winter festivities at Six Flags. Get your tickets online.

• Gift Of Lights At Texas Motor Speedway

November 23 – January 7, 2024, from 6-9 p.m. until 10 p.m. Fri/Sat.

A grand 2-mile holiday lights show – Gift Of Lights at the Texas Motor Speedway!

Load up the family to follow the trail of lights from your vehicle for one mile around the speedway.

My favorite thing to do here after we have gone around the speedway to see the lights is to grab a cup of hot cocoa while walking around and visiting the special family activities. Train rides are offered inside.

Tickets: One carload is $35. Larger vehicles are more.

• Ice Skating In DFW

Dallas, Arlington, Grapevine, & Fort Worth

• Dallas Galleria Indoor Ice Skating

Year-Around Indoor Ice Skating Rink. Skate around the iconic 95-foot-tall lit-up Christmas tree in the center of the rink at Galleria Dallas Ice Skating – indoor skating at the beautiful Dallas Galleria.

Tickets: Skate $12 and $5 skate rental

SNOWDAY Dallas Galleria is recognized as one of the biggest, brightest, and happiest holiday celebrations nationwide. Festivities include live entertainment, holiday skate shows, and Santaland from November 17, 2023, through January 7, 2024.

• Arlington Parks Mall Indoor Ice Skating

• Grapevine Peace Plaza Ice Rink

November 20, 2023 through January 7, 2024

Outdoor Ice Skating Rink in Grapevine

A 4,500-square-foot outdoor ice-skating rink on Historic Main Street at the Peace Plaza in front of Harvest Hall. Don’t miss all the holiday festivities in the Christmas Capital of Texas – Grapevine!

Tickets: Sessions last for 1 hour. Price is $20 for everyone (includes skates).

• Fort Worth Stockyards Rodeo Rink

November 20, 2023 through January 7, 2024

• Holiday At The Dallas Arboretum

November 9 -January 5, 2024 

The Dallas Arboretum presents Featuring the 12 Days of Christmas and Christmas Village – Visit Santa Claus, see over 600 Nutcrakers, a 50-foot tree, and 42,000 holiday lights.

9. Daystar Christmas Lights Bedford, TX

November 23 – December 31, 2023, 6-11 p.m.

Daystar Christmas is an excellent walk-through light show you’ll enjoy. We went a couple of years ago. They are working on getting all the displays set up and ready for the kiddos to see Santa!

Santa photos are available Dec. 8-9 and Dec. 15-16 from 6-8 p.m.

• Christmas On Main Street in Grapevine

Since Grapevine is the Christmas Capital of Texas, it will be very festive in this small town in North Texas. It’s where I will celebrate with friends and family every year. The city is so festive and so magical. Grapevine sure knows how to show the holiday spirit in their town. Main Street is booming with lights, music, and fake snow!

You can expect holiday happenings in Grapevine this Year. There’s no doubt Santa will be among the gang! Gather the family and head to Grapevine for some magical memories.

Sadly, Panther Island Ice in Fort Worth will not return this holiday season.

• Lightscape At The Fort Worth Botanic Gardens

November 17 through January 7, 2024

The Fort Worth Botanic Gardens transforms with a tunnel of lights along a one-mile path that will dazzle you the whole way through. In its 2nd year, Lightscape returns for a fabulous show stopper with over 1 million holiday lights streaming all around the gardens – AND never-before-seen artistic installations throughout a 1.2-mile-long winding walking trail.

Plan to bring the whole family to this spectacular lightscape in Fort Worth for lots of fun and many memories.

Tickets: Off-peak prices are adults $23; Children $15. Member’s prices are $15 for adults & $11 for children. Parking is $20. Check the site for peak pricing, online fees, and no-show days—and yummy roasting s’mores for an additional fee!

It’s held at the Fort Worth Exhibits and Cattle 1 Building at Will Rogers Memorial Center. There is a parking fee.

November 19, 2023

The GM Financial Fort Worth Parade of Lights, which is the largest illuminated holiday parade in Texas, is returning to Downtown Fort Worth for its 41st year.

• Downtown Fort Worth Movie Night – The Grinch

See The Grinch at Burnett Park on December 1, 2023, at 7 p.m.
