Pet-Friendly Plano, Texas
I have been traveling with my girls, Molly and Riley, since they were six weeks old. I enjoy their companionship while on the road, and they make my road trips fun. There are so many pet-friendly locations around the country now, and people get a kick from seeing them. They have appeared on many of my TV segments, and they love having their pictures taken. When you’re traveling on the road with your dog, you need to know the ins and outs.
Pet-Friendly Hotels In Plano
Hilton Granite Park Plano
The beautiful waterfront Hilton Granite Park Plano hosted us with our two dogs. The hotel offers several pet-friendly rooms, an on-site restaurant, an upscale bar, free WIFI, and an outdoor patio with a fire pit. Our two girls got to have a vacation right alongside us. The girls had a gift waiting for them in our hotel room from Visit Plano that included some treats.
When we arrived, we were happy to see the bar at the hotel still open. I ordered a salad with pecans and dates, and my husband ordered chicken strips. That salad was so good that I ordered another one during our stay.
Everyone at the Hilton Granite Park Hotel was very accommodating. We felt very relaxed and special. The guy behind the bar told us we could take our dogs outside by the fire pit. So, We grabbed a cocktail and ice cream and sat by the fire. It was a beautiful night, and our dogs enjoyed watching the fire as much as we did.
Things To Do On The Boardwalk In Plano
The Boardwalk at Granite Park, which is within walking distance from the Hilton Granite Park Hotel, offers a variety of waterfront restaurants with outdoor seating at all of them. The atmosphere is lovely, and it’s a great place to relax in the comfortable Adirondack chairs if you are not going there to eat.
Strolling around the lake at your leisure is what people do. And your pets are welcome to stroll, too! Just make sure your dogs are on a leash. Be sure to ask if the restaurant you want to dine at allows pets in the dining area. Some may not.
Chips Burgers On The Boardwalk
Chips Burgers offers a full menu and a full bar. I love that they brought out a water bowl for Molly and Riley. The food was great, and the girls enjoyed watching passersby from the blankets we put on the grass.
Golden Boy Coffee House On The Boardwalk
Before we packed up to go shopping, I had to return to the Boardwalk to try the Golden Boy coffee, which I heard makes the best coffee. No disappointment here.
Downtown Plano Is Very Pet Friendly
After breakfast, we explored Plano. We visited the Downtown Plano Arts District and Haggard Park. Both were pet-friendly. We ran into many cute shops and a historic train depot.
The Wings Mural Is A Must When Visiting Plano
One thing I wanted to do when I got to Plano was to find the Wing Mural and get my picture taken. I finally found it on our last day in town. The mural is located on Kincaid Road next to Francesca’s.
The Shops At The Legacy
The Shops at Legacy is a short drive from the Hilton Granite Park. We brought the dogs, and some shops were pet-friendly, like Gabriel Ontiveros Salon. The shop crew welcomes your pet with cookies and water. It is so precious and special to us that people treat our dogs just like they treat us.
Plano Dog-Friendly Restaurants
Besides the pet-friendly restaurants at The Boardwalk at Granite Park, there are plenty of other pet-friendly restaurants all over the city.
My husband and I were very pleased with the pet-friendly restaurant choices. We only had time to visit a few, and all the ones we dined at welcomed our pets just as they welcomed us. We now love Plano very much and can’t wait to explore more of the city.
It’s always a good idea to check ahead for pet-friendly restaurants. I recommend calling to see which restaurant is welcoming your fur baby.
Norma’s Cafe
On our first full day, we started at Norma’s Café. They have a pet-friendly outdoor patio, and the girls had a blast. The waitress brought them water, and I brought their food to eat while we had breakfast.
I had French toast with bacon and fruit. My husband ordered his usual – two eggs over-easy, bacon, and toast. It was all good; that bacon had to be the best I’d ever tasted.
Breakfast At The Main Street Bakery
The Main Street Bakery and Bistro are super pet friendly, and we ran surrounding stores, too. One of the stores had a doggy bowl with water and treats outside for all furry friends. Our breakfast was smashing, and the girls enjoyed sharing my avocado toast with me.

A Pet-Friendly Travel Tip
Always take a pet bag for your dog when visiting a restaurant or pet-friendly location. Fill it with a blanket, food, treats, water dish, and poopy bags. I say it’s better to prepare ahead of time than not have everything you need.
