Many outdoor activities include walking on beaches, birding, and watching for wildlife (alligators) – and, don’t forget about the indoor attractions – there is much fun for the whole family.

I’m sure you are going to Brazosport to enjoy the beach. I certainly would too. Beaches in Brazosport are less crowded than some other well-known beaches, but you may have to search a little for the perfect spot on the beach. But if you don’t mind a nice family next to you, you’ll be fine anywhere in the Brazosport area.

Kids Playing at Surfside Beach in Brazosport Area - Texas Family Weekend Trip

Build A Sandcastle At The Beach

If your kids like to build sandcastles, they will love Surfside Beach. Be sure to bring small beach supplies like a pail, a play shovel, and the kind to help them build their masterpiece.  Parents will love that the beach is free for pedestrians.

Travel Pro Tip: If you want to drive on the beach, you will need to buy an annual pass for $12 – even if you only use it for one weekend.

Kayak At The County Beach

Fish, kayak, and roam this 13-mile stretch of public access beach seems like the best thing to do here. Follett’s Beach (County Beach) is a prime location for visitors to enjoy swimming and camping along the beach year-round. It’s free to park on this beach.

Check Out The Museums In Brazosport

After visiting Surfside Beach and the wildlife refuges, you may want to go inside to cool off. If so, check out the Center for the Arts and Sciences. The center includes the Art League, Center Stages, and Museum of Natural Science.

Travel Pro Tip: Admission to the museum and art exhibits is free. Donations are always appreciated.

Freeport Wetlands Observation Deck

Climb to the top for excellent wildlife viewing year-round. Watch for ducks and geese flying overhead. Be careful because this is the bird’s deck, and they will not move for you.
