Horseshoe Bay Resort
A Texas Hill Country top vacation delight
We just got back from staying two fun-filled nights here. Although it was just my friend and me, there are plenty of family-friendly things to do at Horseshoe Bay, and we did a lot of them!
Located in a beautiful area on Lake LBJ, Horseshoe Bay Resort is our first pick for spending a family vacation. From playing putt-putt to free s’mores on the lawn and to the many other outdoor activities we did, this place near Marble Falls is an excellent option for your family to spend a weekend or longer.
The San Luis Resort (Galveston Island)
Complete with a spa and a tropical oasis pool
As a travel writer who travels frequently, I don’t always get to take my child with me. But if I did, he would have had a great time here. Just look at the pool. And as you can see, the beach is right across the street. Who wouldn’t love staying here?
Here at The San Luis Resort, you can be as busy as you want. They offer activities from sunup to sundown, then a trip across the street to the beach would be a nice way to end the night.
Great Wolf Lodge Houston
Vacation deals & packages
Great Wolf Lodge in Webster, TX, between Houston and Galveston, is the newest resort. Kids can enjoy the themed water park, interactive games, and fun arcade. Primary activities are included in your stay, but a few will incur a fee. When we were there, the line to get coffee was way too long. However, they just opened, and hopefully, they have figured out a way to reduce the wait time.
My teenager spent most of his time playing games rather than in the pool. Yours may be different, but this kid had a blast.
The Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine is just as fun. You can’t go wrong with either of these two resorts for a family-friendly vacation.
Tanglewood Resort on Lake Texoma
Where even adults can be kids!
Again, I went with a friend, and the whole time we were there, we kept saying we have to bring the kids here. There is so much to do for the entire family. Tanglewood Resort just completed its 3-tier pool when we were there, and I know they were working on adding more. Being close to the lake and offering amenities for the whole family, like a spa, you may want to consider booking a stay here now!
I had fun going down that slide, but I had an even better time at the spa, where I received a much-needed massage.
La Cantera Resort & Spa (San Antonio)
Enjoy a relaxing spa and an award-winning golf course
La Cantera Resort & Spa is designed to pay homage to the King Ranch, adding a layer of Texas heritage that truly elevates the experience beyond mere luxury.
The family-friendly touches, such as the splash area and kids’ club, make it an ideal base for multigenerational trips or summer getaways. And being nestled in the Texas Hill Country with easy access to San Antonio’s rich culture is a win-win.
The Westin Stonebrair Golf Resort (Frisco, TX)
Enjoy lunch and events by the pool all day long
The Westin Stonebrair Golf Resort is your gateway to a luxury vacation or a staycation with the family. The resort features a spa, golf course, pool, and a variety of family-friendly activities. Plus, you’re in the vicinity of what Frisco, TX, has to offer. A shuttle at the resort can take you to places that’re not too far from the hotel. Enjoy!
Lajatis Golf Resort (Big Bend Country)
A 4-star Rio Grande golf resort
Nestled in Big Bend Country, some of the most fantastic summer vacation spots in Texas are here. Lajitas Golf Resort offers access to numerous outdoor adventures.
Visitors can enjoy a spa treatment at the Agave Spa, golfing at its scenic golf course, mouth-watering meals at one of the four restaurants on-site, or shop for souvenirs at the gift shop.
There are plenty of accommodations to choose from, including cabins, villas, suites, and standard rooms.
Grand Galvez Hotel & Spa Resort
With private beach access and umbrellas
My son and I visited here for one night and enjoyed their Sunday Brunch. As the photo shows, Brody is enjoying his meal to the max. I’m still trying to teach him to use his knife! The photo shows him eating, probably his second plate. Go hungry!
This is our visit and my review of the resort. We had just enough time to enjoy the beach and eat that fabulous brunch. Grand Galvez Hotel Review.
Hyatt Regency Hill Country / San Antonio Resort & Spa
Villas for a high-end, multi-generational vacation
The Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa is a premier destination featuring its new villas. Designed to elevate the resort experience, the villas offer the comfort and privacy of a 2,336-square-foot ranch-style home, paired with exclusive, high-end amenities.
Guests staying in the villas receive exclusive amenities, including twice-daily housekeeping service, a
dedicated villa host, and access to the relaxing amenities at the adjacent Windflower Spa, including a
tranquil outdoor pool, a whirlpool, eucalyptus steam rooms, and a sauna.
Two Creeks Crossing Resort (East Texas)
A luxury RV and cabin resort in East Texas
Last year, I took my mom and son here, along with our dogs. The pool was refreshing, and the music was good. We enjoyed two nights in one of their cabins. Brody had the loft, and my mom and I shared the king bed. We loved getting to take our two dogs, and they loved it too. Brody went swimming, and we all went kayaking; all three of us ate hamburgers and listened to live music on the lawn by the outdoor restaurant. It was fun. Take a look at what all we did at Two Creeks Crossing Resort, plus our adorable cabin. This is also a luxury RV resort.
Margaritaville Resort on Lake Conroe
It’s 5 o’clock somewhere – and all the time here!
The Jimmy Buffett Margaritaville song will make you want to stay here!
This list wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the Margaritaville Resort on Lake Conroe. Not only did I enjoy this place (alone), but so did another Texas Travel Talk writer and her family. I’ll include both links to our stories. This place is remarkable and offers a wide range of activities to keep the whole family busy throughout their stay.
