I love living in Mckinney, Texas. Even though the population is around 180K, you don’t feel like it’s a big city. In fact, the moment you step foot into the Historic downtown area, you feel as if you are in a small town. The shops are adorable and personally owned… not bought out by large corporations. You can enjoy the small town feel of the warmth and hospitality of the people who live and work in and around the historic district. The subdivision that I live in has an elementary school, middle school, and high school all within walking distance and my kids never have to cross major streets to get to any of their schools. We also have a city park and two pools, and the city provides a beautiful walking trail as well. I have lived here for 10 years now and can’t imagine living anywhere else.
McKinney is Great for a Date Night
One of my favorite places to go for date nights is downtown Mckinney, Texas. There are so many fun places to dine. Hubby and I love so many of the restaurants in the square and often have a hard time choosing when we go there. We love that if there is a wait, we can walk around the square to burn time. As an added bonus, there is an adorable and delicious pie shop, called Emporium Pies that makes a great dessert stop as well! (You can totally share a slice as they are very large and rich, too!)

McKinney is the Best Place to Have a Girl’s Weekend
I hadn’t really considered making a girls weekend out of downtown Mckinney until recently and now I think it’s something I would love to do more often! I love spending one-on-one time with my girlfriends. When I get time away from my mom duties to do that, I do!
Recently, I was invited to stay at the Neathery Estate and had NO idea it existed! It is the most adorable bed and breakfast in historic downtown Mckinney. I met the owner while staying there. Her story is awesome. She is very passionate about what she does and has years of experience. She is very excited to be located in Mckinney and has only been open since early 2018. The house is beautiful and you can tell she puts her heart into being a gracious hostess. This is a must stop and stay when you come to check out Mckinney, Texas! It’s walking distance from the square, but you can also drive and park near the square if you don’t want to walk the few blocks to the shops.

If you are looking for a day of browsing, then you definitely want to check out the shops in Downtown Mckinney. They have EVERYTHING! Jewelry, Clothes, Toys, Books, Shoes, Antiques, and so much more! There are tons of shops with adorable ideas for gifts. I could seriously do all of my holiday shopping in the shops.
Make sure to check out all of the fun events that are happening when you come, you don’t want to miss out! Mckinney has tons going on!
