The City of Seguin is a historic town with a rich history and is home to Texas Lutheran University. It’s a short drive from New Braunfels and San Marcos. Seguin holds the title “Pecan Capital of Texas.” Not only that, but the city also has the world’s largest pecan (statue).

Downtown Seguin has made it on the National Register of Historic Places for commercial business with some of the oldest structures in Texas. Main Street is where you’ll want to start exploring the area because you’ll find many things to do and see by walking around. A good first stop would be to see the World’s Largest Pecan outside the Courthouse – get your camera ready. Then, follow the square around, and you will see a park dedicated to the history of Seguin, featuring flags and statues. You can also visit countless murals that show photos from Seguin’s past and provide a memorable backdrop for your photos.
You may want to check Walnut Springs Park for a picnic or hike. Even on rainy days, there’s still fun to be had. You’re So Crafty – a walk-in art studio is a fun way for kids to paint a canvas or pottery and create jewelry or crafts with yarn.

Move over, pecan – you now have another “largest in the world” attraction in your town! Polmedia Polish Pottery is a happy place to make pottery. My son and I used to do this where we lived. I can’t count the pottery pieces he has made (at a very young age). It’s such a fun family thing to do.
8. Seguin Guadalupe County Heritage Museum

The Seguin Guadalupe County Heritage Museum is housed in a building built in 1898 with its original wood floors and ceilings. Before that, it was a grocery store. Guns, fossils, Native American artifacts, early settlers, and some of the first original salt-glazed pottery, among other local artifacts, are found here.

Mead (in case you didn’t know – I did not) is “an alcoholic beverage made by fermenting honey mixed with water, and sometimes with added ingredients such as fruits, spices, grains, or hops.” They make Mead from the finest honey in Texas. Blue Lotus Winery is located in Seguin and has opened Blue Lotus Resorts.

You could also stick to the water with a rental from Red Beard Boats. This water rental company features skiing, pontoon boats, fishing boats, kayak, and paddleboard rentals. If needed, they serve customers at Lake Placid and will meet at nearby lakes, such as Canyon Lake.
12. Spend Time At A Local State Park
Keep in mind that there are several state parks near Sequin. Palmetto State Park is probably the closest, followed by Lockhart State Park and Guadalupe River State Park.
13. Sebastopol House Historic Site
Time travel to this Greek Revival Style 150-year-old Texas Historical Landmark in Seguin, a National Register of Historic Places, and the Greek Revival home of Colonel Joshua Wright Young and later local Seguin mayor. This home survived all those years of the harsh Texas weather because of a special casting technique using concrete and limecrete (a mixture of local gravel and lime) to construct the home.
Admission is free and open from 9 am to 4 p.m. Friday- Sunday. Guided tours are available.

After a night full of cornhole and stargazing, we got a late start, so we only had time to grab a coffee. Seguin Coffee is a great spot for a drive-thru with just various caffeinated beverages and light bites.
• Court Street Coffee Shop
Go where the drinks aren’t always conventional; breakfast is served all day, and lunch is typical deli fare. You’ll find that at Court Street Coffee Shop.
• Noe’s Mexican Cafe
Noe’s Cafe’s breakfast tacos are the universal breakfast in Texas, and this local taco stand is supposed to have the best in the area. The address is 1912 N Austin St.
• Davila’s BBQ
While in Seguin, visit Davila’s BBQ for great rocket wings and brew. There are options if you are looking for picnic food or a sit-down restaurant. Our family eats BBQ, pizza, and chicken wings regularly, so these restaurants made our list, especially after the first was featured on Food Network. The second one was a recommendation by a friend, and the latter was a brewery and wood-fired pizza place we wanted to visit.
Travel Tip: If you visit over a weekend or an extended weekend, double-check business hours, as some are not open on Sundays and Mondays.
