It’s getting hotter in Texas and I have found one of the best ways to enjoy the summer months is to play in the water, a lot! Thankfully, Texas is not short on awesome water parks! In fact, Schlitterbahn has several locations around the state, four to be exact. My daughter and I recently explored their New Braunfels location and let me say it is NOT your average waterpark! What exactly do I mean by that? Well, for one… you can stay on site and make a full vacation out of it! By staying on property, you don’t have to get a hotel nearby and drive to get on property. I also love that you can have a FULL kitchen and cabin set up for your WHOLE family on property! By staying on property, you can play for a bit, then go back to your room and rest if needed. I love this, especially if you have little ones who wear out or need naps. Also a perk of staying on property is that you get “extra” hours in the park that the general public does not get! Also, there are other fun activities for those staying on property. While we were there, they offered s’mores and a movie that night! I love fun extras like that!
Another big thing I noticed that set this park apart from other water parks that I have been to is that mix between the man-made water fun and the natural water features. We decided that we wanted to float on a ride that would take 45 minutes, the Raging River Tube Chute. We got our tubes and hopped on this ride. It was relaxing at parts, but also had many “thrilling” twists that we didn’t expect. The final ending to this particular river ride spit us out into the actual Congo river, which moves super slow…and is an actual river…not built of concrete walls and such.
Chloe and I could have spent our whole day playing on the Boogie Bahn Surfing ride! It’s free…and I don’t know many water parks that offer something like that! (Pro tip: start your day there…the line gets long fast!)
This park is BIG and divided by several city blocks. Check out the map here! You can easily hop on a bus that will take you between the two parks. We could have easily spent a week exploring all that this fun park had to offer!
Chloe and I were invited to Schlitterbahn as part of a partnership with Schlitterbahn and Texas Travel Talk. The partnership included lodging and compensation for the trip. The opinions reflected are honest and based upon my own experience.
This year Schlitterbahn is celebrating 40 years! There are tons of fun photo ops around the park, make sure to look for them! I wish we had a waterproof camera to snap more photos while we were in the park. (Tip: they do sell waterproof cases for your phones in their gift shops!)
