We recently visited San Angelo, TX where we discovered family fun, a bit of history, amazing food and some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. While on our trip, we made it a point to find free things to do in San Angelo, and in doing so, I also came across some of the best photo spots in San Angelo! (Lucky for us all, some locations made both lists!)
This post was a part of a sponsored trip to San Angelo, Texas. The partnership included lodging, food & beverage, and compensation for the event. The opinions reflected are honest and unbiased based upon the individual blogger experience.
Where To Find The Best Photo Spots In San Angelo
The Visitor’s Center
Not only does the Visitor’s Center offer (free) coffee, brochures and helpful information on local attractions, the venue also offers an amazing scene to take pictures.
Behind the center, you’ll see the Concho River, waterfalls, art displays (including the area-known mosaic car and truck) beautiful plants and other structures. This was one of my two favorite photo spots in San Angelo because of the landscape and natural lighting!
My second favorite photo spot in San Angelo can be found at The Bosque. Under the bridge, you will find a “hidden” chalkboard wall that is just waiting for photogenic subjects (just watch out for the birds soaking up shade overhead!)
In this same spot, you’ll also notice the most beautiful Tiffany Blue / teal colored wall, with just the right amount of distress for modern pictures.
There’s also a few wall mosaics here, plus you can take pictures along the fence or river. You can even get great lifestyle “fun” shots of your subject playing with the giant chess set, playing golf or going for a ride in the paddle boats.
Right across from The Angry Cactus restaurant, you’ll notice a mural of colorful angel wings that certainly caught my eyes as we drove by.
I couldn’t wait to walk over for a quick photo, and from the looks of some pictures I’ve seen on instagram, this seems to be a popular spot!
If you want to take pictures in an open field with history in the background, Fort Concho is the place to visit!
*Please check the city’s website for information on taking professional pictures here.
San Angelo State Park
From fields to wildlife to herds of cattle, you are sure to find it at the San Angelo State Park!
I have an aspiring cowboy who only wished he had brought his cowboy hat with him to pose in front of the cattle! This setting was perfect and the sun was just right! (Admission fee is required for entrance to the state park.)
The Latest Scoop Ice Cream Parlor
Besides the fact that this ice cream shop has a variety of incredible flavors that one must try in order to appreciate (Cookie Butter, Grilled Peach, Sea Salt Butter Pecan, Blueberry Lavender, to name a few!) posing with a fresh dipped ice cream cone makes one of the best summer pictures you’ll want to see on your wall! (This photo spot comes with the benefit of being able to eat the props during the photo shoot, and the lighting was great inside and out!)
If you’re looking for The Latest Scoop’s Ice Cream Truck, we saw it parked on the property of The Bosque! This makes a great summer spot, too!
