Whenever cooler weather creeps up, it’s my favorite time of year—that is, until spring flowers start to bloom—well, that’s another story.

• North Texas
Shadow Creek Pumpkin Farm
Ellis County
October – Saturdays 10 am-6 pm and Sundays 1-6 pm
Just 30 minutes south of the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Shadow Creek Pumpkin Farm offers corn maze, pumpkins of all sizes, hayrides, a giant jump pad, and more. Save time and sign the liability waiver online. See more on their site, including weekday openings.

The Flower Mound Pumpkin Patch – CLOSED For NOW
Flower Mound, Texas
Unfortunately, they could not find enough staff to work the pumpkin patch this year – 2023.
This is probably the best pumpkin patch in North Texas. It’s been in business for a long time and has served many families, groups, and schools. There will be hundreds of pumpkins, cornstalks, hay bales, baked goods, and food trucks!
Tip: Their “Christmas in the Country” opens the day after Thanksgiving.
Hall’s Pumpkin Farm

This pumpkin patch has become our favorite, and I always find the perfect pumpkin here – those knotted ones. Some of our favorite things are a friendly nine-foot-tall corn maze, hayrides, animals to see, a petting zoo, mini pumpkins to buy, food trucks, and bathrooms. Some activities cost money.
Bring Cash. Lots of things out here only take Cash. Hall’s Pumpkin Farm
Admission: $15 for adults and kids (4-11) is $10 – The admission fee includes the corn maze and parking—Cash only for hayride tickets. It’s closed on Monday & Tuesday.
Blase Family Farm Pumpkin Patch
Rockwall, Texas

Blase Family Farm is a small urban farm that started in 2011 with pick-your-own blueberries in the summer and Pumpkin Patch in the fall. They have a no-pet policy.
Expect all the fun of a petting zoo, a hayride, a hay maze, pumpkin storyboards, photo ops, and pumpkins of all sizes!

Dallas Arboretum And Botanical Garden

One of DFW’s favorite fall spots to visit. This is a must-visit to see the pumpkin village. The 18th Annual Autumn at the Dallas Arboretum will be It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. Over one hundred thousand pumpkins make up the display. It’s a site to see and an excellent place for photo opportunities with the family.
Admission: $14-$20. Parking is $15, but only $11 if you buy it online.
The Big Orange Pumpkin Farm
Gunter, Texas
September – October, 8 am to 8 pm daily.
In case you don’t know where Gunter, Texas is (I didn’t), it’s near Sherman/Denison.
Preston Trail Farms presents its pumpkin patch and 50 different animals and, of course, all those things that pumpkin patches offer. I’d go to see all those animals!! They also have a store and a cafe—dogs on leashes are welcome.

The Dripping Springs Pumpkin Festival is held at the Dr. Pound Historical Farmstead.
There are so many games and activities for kids, like pumpkin painting, pioneer bowling, potato sack racing, face painting, petting zoo, and more. Some cost, and some are free. Lots of food vendors, too.
Admission: $15. 65 & over are free.
Evergreens Farm Pumpkin Hunt

Sweet Berry Farm offers lovely fall activities for the whole family, including pick-your-own flowers and a stuff-a-scarecrow activity. We did both. It was so fun that we ended up going back the next day.

Expect a hayride, a corn maze, pick-your-own zinnias, and more. This is a huge pumpkin Patch – on both sides of the highway. You can stuff a scarecrow for $20 (hopefully, they didn’t go up on the price from 2 years ago when we were there). That was the best twenty bucks I ever spent. From the looks of it, it’s a popular place for families to come out and spend the day.

Visit their real farm with a real pumpkin patch. Braune Farms Fresh Produce is a working farm that invites you to their place in South Texas. They grow 4 acres of pumpkins, and visitors get a hayride out to the patch, where they get to pick their own pumpkins right off the vine. You’ll find various sizes, shapes, and colors. Also, during the pumpkin patch, kids can enjoy carnival-like games, face painting, corn crip, tube slide, and mini animal barnyard.
They are a true working vegetable farm that opens their farm up for pumpkin picking on weekends of October 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. The rest of the year, they grow produce to sell at their farm stand and various farmers’ markets.
