Indulge in summertime, and all these Texas Waterparks open during the season!

When school is out, summertime is when Texas shines. That means two things – bored kids & hot kids. Most Texas parents turn to one solution for both – waterparks for the whole family! Below, find the best water parks in Texas open for the season. These waterparks are spread out across the Lone Star State.

From young children to adults – who doesn’t like to play in the water, especially in the Texas heat? When families share memories, some of the best things happen, and visiting a waterpark makes a beautiful family vacation and many fun moments to cherish. Texas boasts fantastic waterparks with tube slides, water slides, body slides, and all the slides for everyone to enjoy.

Texas Water Parks Open

Here is information on all the Texas waterparks we found that will open for the 2024 season. Most are open on weekends in May. Are you ready?

Dallas / Fort Worth (DFW) Area

The greater Dallas-Fort Worth area has many waterparks, starting with an entire family of Hawaiian Falls scattered throughout the vicinity.

Hawaiian Falls Waterparks

The wave pool at Hawaiian Falls is sensational. If your kid has not checked in lately, check the pool! Don’t worry – life jackets are available. And, if your kids are looking for you, tell them you’ll be in the lazy river – all day! That’s where I’d be. Check out all Hawaiian Falls Parks – Mansfield, Roanoke, Waco, Garland, and The Colony.

You can bring your own food for $15 per ice chest (check price), and factory water bottles are free to bring. I love HF, but the food there isn’t that great. Also, several options for season passes are available.

More Outdoor Waterparks in DFW

Other parks across the North Texas area include Six Flags Hurricane Harbor in Arlington, TX.

NRH2O in North Richland Hills, TX, opens in early May and is hiring now!

Bahama Beach Waterpark – Dallas begins in late May.

Cool off at Gaylord Texan’s Paradise Springs Water Park and Resort Pools in Grapevine, TX if you’re a Marriott Gaylord guest. The new season starts on weekends only from the first of April to the end of May, then every day in the summer.

Get in the zone at WhoaZone at Grapevine, located at Meadowmere Park. This is on Lake Grapevine and is a “floating waterpark.” Coupons are on the website. There is a fee to enter Meadowmere Park. Arrive early because the park may have a maximum of entries.

Jellystone Park in Burleson is wide open for swimming and camping. Get it all here – even the waterparks next door. Please take a look at our recent trip to Jellystone Park, where we had a jell of a good time!

Summer Fun Waterpark in Belton opens on the first of May. Free parking. $15-$18 admission – pay at the gate.

*Pirate Beach at Legoland in the Grapevine Mills Mall has closed permanently.

Epic Waters – Grand Prairie

Indoor Waterparks In The DFW Area

Open all year long—why wait for summer? These indoor waterparks are open year-round and make excellent vacation spots!

Lazy River & other water rides still have you dreading the Texas sun? Consider heading to the Texas indoor waterpark at Great Wolf Lodge Grapevine, TX.

One more indoor waterpark in the DFW area is Epic Waters Waterpark in Grand Prairie.

The Locura Water Slide

  • Seven stories tall
  • 40-foot drop
  • 360-degree horizontal loop
  • 35 MPH
  • and more hair-blowing fun!

Standing over 70 feet tall, Locura is a flat-line water slide that combines the anticipation of the AquaLaunch Capsule with the visual impact of a looping 387-foot translucent flume. See it here – LOCURA at Epic Waters.

Houston / Galveston Water Parks

Head south on I-45 to the Houston/Galveston area. On the north side of Houston in Spring, you can find Wet’n’Wild. This is one of the longest-standing waterparks in the area.

Take a right turn off of I-45, head west on I-10, and head to Katy for Typhoon Texas.

Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Splashtown – Spring  – open for business with several packages for purchase.

Pirate’s Bay Waterpark in Baytown begins on weekends in May.

Calypso Cove in Baytown opens end of May

Great Wolf Lodge Webster

Don’t forget about the new Great Wolf Lodge in Webster, TX (near Houston).

Or you can head further south to Galveston for some sand-free fun. You can find a very family-friendly water play at Moody Gardens at Palm Beach (which opens on Memorial Day). Feeling a little more adventurous? Head over to Schlitterbahn Galveston.

South East Coast Water Parks

Hurricane Alley Waterpark

Along the beautiful Texas Coast, in the Corpus Christi area, is Hurricane Alley Waterpark. Weekdays are $20 and Weekends are $25. Bring all the toddlers you can think of for free! Ha, maybe not!

Beach Waterpark

There’s the fabulous Beach Park at Isla Blanca in South Padre Island, where you’ll find fun things to do for everyone, plus cabanas and palapas to keep you out of the hot sun. Open now on weekends.

South Texas Waterparks

Schlitterbahn New Braunfels

Schlitterbahn New Braunfels – The World’s Best Waterpark, complete with a swim-up bar, cabins, and more!

SeaWorld San Antonio Aquatica

In the San Antonio area, SeaWorld San Antonio Aquatica elevate the classic series of slides and intertube rides with the unique Stingray Encounter.

Six Flags Fiesta Texas

Did you know Six Flags Fiesta Texas has water rides? That would be the best of both worlds! However, the water park is closed during the cold months. It opens on select days from April through September. Check before you go.

Central Texas Waterparks

WacoSurf

WacoSurf is kicking off summer 2025 with the reopening of its Water Park on May 10 for the summer season. As temperatures rise, the coolest place to be is at one of the most innovative inland surf and aquatic facilities in the United States. The Water Park’s reopening marks the return of fan favorites like the Wedge Water Slides and (what’s rumored to be) the longest lazy river in Texas, alongside fresh updates and additions throughout the property that solidify Waco Surf as the ultimate summer destination.

Splash Shack

Splash Shack in Cedar Park is a year-round waterpark with slides and fun structures.

Typhoon Texas

Typhoon Texas is in Austin, near Pflugerville. Season passes are on sale now. You can go cashless here with a wristband—the best thing ever, especially for the kids.

Member-Only Waterpark in College Station

This used to be an adult-only waterpark in College Station, but it looks like it is now a member-only. The Cove at BearX features surf camps, fun water sports, a swim-up bar, live music, and more! How fun would this be!!

West Texas Waterparks

El Paso Water Parks

Lost Kingdom Water Park. Cabanas for rent, party packages, season passes, twilight tickets, and more.

Big Bend Country Water Parks

Wet’n’Wild Waterworld in Anthony opens on the weekends in May and for five days for Memorial Day.

Texas Panhandle Water Parks

Water Rampage in Lubbock opens at the end of May through August.

In Wichita Falls, TX, Castaway Cove Waterpark opens in May and only on weekends.

Adventure Cove in Abilene opens in late May. Enjoy a leisure pool, a lazy river, water slides, and concession food.

Check Before You Go

It’s always best to check out the waterpark before going and, if possible, purchase tickets online. This may save you time waiting in long lines.

Also, many waterparks in Texas offer special events with live music. That would be a bonus.

So, this is our list of Texas waterparks for the season. We are sure it is incomplete as Texas is so large. If you see an omission, please comment below.

Have fun, stay cool, and don’t forget your waterproof sunscreen!
