Best Things To Do In Wimberley Texas

Pack it, leave it, unwind, and forget in Wimberley, TX.

This picturesque small river town in the Texas Hill Country sits along Cypress Creek and the Blanco River. Wimberley is only an hour south of Austin and a little over an hour north of San Antonio. One of Wimberley’s biggest draws is its stunning natural surroundings, such as Jacob’s Well and The Blue Hole. Families who love outdoor activities will find plenty of opportunities to explore in the area.

The Best Things To Do In Wimberley, Texas

Wimberley Square has several locally owned businesses, including boutiques, art galleries, antique shops, and eateries. The buildings surrounding the square have limestone facades and a rustic look. Cypress Creek runs through the Square, allowing for a scenic area for recreation and relaxation. A few restaurants line the creek, offering spots to sit and eat while taking in the natural surroundings.

2. Follow the Bootiful Wimberley Trail

All over town.

Thirty-two (32) six-foot-tall boot statues in town display the artistic projects of the Wimberley Valley Arts and Cultural Alliance. See the bootiful boots online. I saw at least 6 or 7, and the one above was my favorite.

Be sure to pick up the boot map at the welcome center.

3. Blue Hole Regional Park

100 Blue Hole Ln, Wimberley, Texas 78676

Swim season starts May 1st at all city parks in Wimberley.

If you’re swimming, reservations are required, but you’re free to roam around the trails and park otherwise. Swimming at the Blue Hole starts May 1, 2025. You can now reserve your day pass on the website. Some days are already sold out. Blue Hole Regional Park. Only service animals are allowed.

The Blue Hole is located a few blocks from Wimberley Square. You can walk there if you’re already parked.

4. Old Baldy Park & Climb Mount Baldy

31 La Toya Trail, Wimberley, TX 78676

The park is a popular spot for hiking and scenery. It’s free to enter and free to park. If you can make 218 rock steps up to Mount Baldy – Wimberley’s iconic landmark, you’ll be rewarded with 360-degree views of the Wimberley Valley. Otherwise, opt for the hiking trails. Good luck! This park is located in a residential area, like many parks in town.

No camping allowed at Old Baldy. Also, no fishing at Old Baldy. Pet-friendly.

5. Cypress Falls Swimming Hole

50 Marina Cir, Wimberley, TX 78676

Dog-friendly. Catch and release fishing is allowed. Bring our pole. Blankets and chairs are also allowed and encouraged to bring.

8. Wimberley Zipline Adventures

376 Winn Valley, Wimberley, Texas 78676

The course consists of 10 ziplines ranging in length from 150 feet to 900 feet for a mile of thrilling zipline excitement.

This is my kind of excitement. I’ve always wanted to zip these lines. But because of the rain, I decided not to. However, I read that they don’t close because of a little rain. So, call before you buy your ticket online.

Cost $102 + tax per person. $20 off on Tuesdays and Sundays. See the promo page for the coupon code and blackout dates.

The trail is open year-round. Dogs are welcome. Free.

11. Stroll Downtown Wimberley (on foot)

Wimberley Square boasts its locally owned boutiques and artisan markets. Park and walk all the way around, and on side streets. Parking is free. But I suggest (I’ve been there) to park your car and explore downtown on foot. It gets really busy in this small area, as the main streets in town lead to it (Ranch Rd 12 and Old Kyle Road). There are pedestrian walkways in various areas.

12. Wimberley Market Days

For the history buffs in the group, you may like to see the Winters-Wimberley House. The town of Wimberley was named after Pleasant Wimberley. His burial site is located at the Wimberley Cemetery, which is also on this list. Here is an excellent story of the history of the house.

23. Lunch At Chill’s On The Creek

14004 Ranch Rd 12, Wimberley, TX 78676

I believe there is only outdoor seating, and my table overlooked a playground and Cypress Creek. It was pretty cool, and my dog loved it too, though he didn’t like sitting high on the bar stool, so he took comfort under the table. Of course, it’s pet-friendly there. I ordered the hamburger with fries. Loved the bun the best.

24. Breakfast at Wimberley Cafe

Downtown Wimberley Square

Another pet-friendly place to eat. Cody and I sat on the porch, and I enjoyed a cheese omelet with wheat toast and plenty of hash browns. He enjoyed a dog biscuit and water!

25. Elevated Dinner At The Hill At Blair House Inn

100 W. Spoke Hill Dr., Wimberley, TX

I didn’t eat here, but the Horseshoe Ridge RV Resort, where I stayed, recommended it for dinner. Go all out with a 3- or 5-course dinner, and they are also open for lunch. Check out The Hill.

Did you notice that most of these places are on Ranch Rd 12? The town has a close-knit nature, and some parks are located in residential areas, such as Old Baldy and Cypress Creek Falls. How would you like a beautiful park in your backyard?
