May in Texas might be the best time to visit because of the excellent weather, fewer crowds, and many outdoor activities. School is still in session until around the last week of May, and the weather is not too hot. Not every family can get away if they have kids in school, but if you have little ones or are visiting solo or as a couple, May is a fabulous time to plan fun in Texas.
Spring is still the season, with many wildflowers blooming and beautiful scenic drives available everywhere. Plus, outdoor events and festivals, including Cinco de Mayo, are sprouting up everywhere. However, if you plan to visit Texas in May for less crowds, do so before Memorial Day weekend. That’s when everything changes in May, and crowds abound.
