The Bosque – San Angelo, Texas
There are many things to do in San Angelo, and you’ll find many of them at The Bosque. It’s located just off downtown San Angelo – and everything in the city of San Angelo is easy to get to from any place in the city. The Bosque is a lovely, scenic place to do something (or nothing) when visiting San Angelo.
The Bosque contains many free and low-cost activities for families visiting San Angelo. It’s tranquil, fun, and Instagram-worthy. You can spend an entire afternoon or just a couple of hours – totally up to you. There are lots of activities to choose from that will work with even the smallest budget.
It’s free to enter, and you can enjoy the park, stroll along the riverwalk, and do many activities at no cost. But a few activities require fees, but most are super reasonable.
Things To Do At The Bosque
Paddle boats are rented on a half-hour basis. Boats can seat up to four people, but only two can work the paddles. I think 30 minutes is a good time to explore the area along the Concho river designated for the paddle boats. It’s an inexpensive activity, so extending it for another half hour probably won’t break the bank.
We found the paddle boats to be a fun time. They have a canopy that (slightly) helps keep the Texas sun from totally melting you, and the life jackets are included in the experience.
The mini-golf course at the Bosque includes 18 challenging holes. Most of the course is in the full sun, so if you’re playing during the heat of the summer day, make sure you have water, sunscreen, and a hat.
How much does it cost to go to The Bosque San Angelo Texas?
Entrance into the park and parking is free. The paddle boats cost $12 for 30 minutes. The pricing is per boat, and each boat can seat four people.

Pro tip: When you’re in San Angelo and have been in the military, ask for a military discount wherever you go, even if no one is posted. San Angelo is a very military town. Also, make sure you take cash! No credit cards are accepted at The Bosque.

I think you can spend as much or as little time as you like at The Bosque. If you walk along the Concho River behind the visitor’s center, you’ll find two more mosaic-tiled vehicles – one VW bug and another truck. If you have little ones, check out the Kids Kingdom, a free playground/park with plenty of shaded seating for parents. This area is about a half-mile from The Bosque, so if you fancy stretching your legs and checking out more of the scenic River Walk, this is a fun little side outing.
Ice Cream Near The Bosque
Check out the nearby ice cream shop, The Latest Scoop. A cool treat is a perfect top-off to family fun at The Bosque, and their ice cream is the absolute best in Texas. But shhh! Don’t tell a certain little creamery in Brenham that!
