Here’s where and how to spend a wonderful Labor Day weekend in Texas.
Wait! Summer is not over just yet! Labor Day is another holiday weekend we can spend doing summer things. Better yet, why not enjoy a long Labor Day weekend in Texas doing what you love? This is a holiday to rest and relax, wherever you feel most comfortable. Enjoy that extra day, too.
Labor Day is a celebration of the achievements of American workers. We celebrate you if you’ve ever worked a day in the USA!
If you plan to spend the holiday at home, consider planning a backyard barbecue and playing outdoor games. However, if you can extend your summer for one more weekend, consider the recommendations below.
PS. Regarding the Texas Hill Country (Kerrville), I’m excluding any festivals or events in that area. They are probably not going to have anything going on for quite some time, unless it’s a benefit for the victims of the Texas flood tragedy. That’s my thought.

Enjoy Labor Day Weekend In Texas
Now that July 4th is behind us, it’s time to start planning for the 3-day Labor Day weekend. Besides all the mattress discounts you’ll ever want to hear about (I actually bought one last year), we have a few ideas below on how to spend your Labor Day weekend. I would love to plan a road trip every time a three-day weekend rolls around.
Staying close to home is an excellent option for many of us. Backyard picnics are fun, s’mores by the fire pit, etc, but if you want more, let’s dive into these spots.
It’s still hot in Texas, and almost everything related to summer is open through Labor Day. That’s a win-win.

Fun Things To Do on Labor Day In Texas
Some great options for spending a day or a weekend include resorts with pools, nearby beaches, lakes, golf courses, and your favorite water park. You could also rent a cabin at a state park or bring a tent to camp out under the stars. These fun activities can continue in September with ease.
So, if a pool party in your backyard is out of the question because you’ve already had plenty of those, it’s time to plan to go somewhere.
Labor Day is filled with festivals, food, and even balloon fests. Here are a few ideas and many activities for you and your kids.
Please note: Always check prices, opening dates, and times before you go.
North Texas Labor Day Weekend
Areas north of Dallas, such as Plano, The Colony, Frisco, and even Irving, which is located west of Dallas, are gaining a lot of hype these days. And for a good reason. More and more entertainment is coming to each city. And the best part is that residents of these areas no longer have to leave their city to find fun and excitement for their families—it’s right in their backyards!
The Colony is the fastest-growing city in North Texas. And the Toyota Music Factory in Irving is gaining attention.

A live music venue is what you’ll find at the Toyota Music Factory, but there’s more. Throughout the lawn, restaurants offer both outdoor and indoor seating. Picnic tables are on the grounds; you can even bring a blanket to sit on the grass. This is always a family-friendly event with pizza, hamburgers, chicken, tacos, and more!
And, if you go across the street to the Las Colinas Canal, there are more eateries. Plus, you can walk around the canal, rent a kayak, and even get serenaded on a riverboat for dinner. This area would make a lovely spot for a Labor Day weekend in Texas.
