The holiday season is a beautiful time of year to visit Texas. The warm and friendly atmosphere and the crisp cool nights make Texas a state many people put on their winter vacation list. And, yes, kids, Santa Claus comes to Texas wearing his boots! Comb through these 20 or more Christmas holiday events in North Texas to see which ones resonate with you and your family.
With the Christmas season around the corner, I’m hoping (again) that we in the Lone Star State will see a white Christmas. Christmas time is my favorite holiday of all. Is it yours too?

Christmas Holiday Events In North Texas
There may be snow or not, but there’s one thing for sure – Texas is celebrating the holidays in a big way! You never know what the weather will be like on any given day, so if you’re heading to Texas, pack a coat just in case. We don’t all wear cowboy boots and cowboy hats. Nor do we all ride a horse. But we do have fun.
The best Christmas towns celebrating the holidays with the public will be listed below. Hopefully, we found them all, but if not, let us know. I hope to keep adding to the list if I encounter more Christmas events.
Make plans for Christmas things to do in Dallas-Fort Worth. The DFW area has a slew of holiday events.
Expect live music and small towns lit with big red lights and bows. Let’s spread some holiday cheer all over North Texas this Christmas season! Plenty of other towns in Texas with charming Christmas Towns may be of interest to you, too.

1. Radiance! Light Spectacular
• Frozen In Frisco
November 18 – December 31, 2022, at Riders Field
Radiance! A Holiday Light Spectacular is more than a mile long and will take about 20 to 30 minutes to drive through the entire experience. A special Radiance! Radio station frequency will be provided for guests to enjoy iconic holiday tunes as they experience the wonder, including 160 feet of animated RGB light tunnels.
Hot chocolate, cookies, and holiday treats will be available from your car.
Activities will be fun for the entire family and go on simultaneously with the light show. Expect snow tubing, ice skating, and more. I know where I’ll be!
• At The Ranch In Weatherford – Radiance! Light Spectacular
Returns for the third year to Parker County Sheriff’s Posse. See the link above. Sip on a hot cocoa while strolling through the bright lights. Don’t miss the VIP option for this year.
2. Prairie Lights – GP
Thanksgiving Evening – New Year’s Eve
Prairie Lights will light up Grand Prairie at Lynn Creek Park on Joe Pool Lake with over 4 million lights! General Adm and Fast Pass available. Tickets start at $30 per vehicle. Grab the whole family for this incredible car ride…and split the bill. Prairie Lights turn into Christmas lights in Grand Prairie and is one of the best light shows in the Metroplex.
3. Holiday In The Park At Six Flags Over Texas
November 19 – January 1, 2023
Nothing is better than experiencing this amusement park with the family when it’s cold outside. Whether you live in Texas or are traveling here this winter, Six Flags’ Winter schedule is only on weekends through the end of the year.
Check the schedule before you go, and you must buy your tickets online in advance this year. Six Flag in Arlington is one of the best family activities in North Texas. Enjoy all the winter festivities at Six Flags. Get your tickets online.
4. Gift Of Lights At Texas Motor Speedway
November 24 – January 1, 2023
A grand holiday lights show – Gift Of Lights at the Texas Motor Speedway!
Load up the family to follow the trail of lights from your vehicle for one mile around the speedway.
My favorite thing to do here after we have gone around the speedway to see the lights is to grab a cup of hot cocoa while walking around and visiting the special family activities. Train rides are offered inside.
5. Ice Skating In DFW
• Dallas Galleria
Year-Around Indoor Ice Skating Rink. Skate around the big lit-up Christmas tree in the center of the rink at Galleria Dallas Ice Skating – indoor skating at the beautiful Dallas Galleria. Plan for the Annual Grand Tree Light Celebration on Nov. 25-26 and Dec. 4th & 11th.

6. Christmas Musical At Casa Manana
November 25 – December 23, 2022
A Christmas Carol New Musical Comedy will play at Fort Worth’s theater Casa Manana for one month. I love to watch shows like this. Book by Charles Dickens.

7. Historic Waxahachie Christmas Tour Of Homes
December 10-11, 2022
The gorgeous homes in historic Waxahachie will once again decorate them for the Christmas Tour of Homes in Waxahachie for the public to see. And lots more holiday events are happening in November, too.
8. Holiday At The Dallas Arboretum
December 9-24, 2022
The Dallas Arboretum presents Christmas Village Holiday Entertainment – Visit Santa Claus.
Did you know the Dallas Arboretum has BOGO Wednesday? Buy one admission, Get one admission free on Wednesdays.
- *NEW this year* The Artistry of Faith & Culture Exhibit at the DeGolyer House is decorated in the season’s three holidays – Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa. Sounds very pretty and colorful to me.
- The 12 Days of Christmas exhibit with 25-foot-tall Victorian-style gazebos depicting scenes from the traditional carol
- Christmas Village inspired by a European hamlet with shops, entertainment, and a 23-foot-tall Weber Pyramid crafted in Germany
- Santa Claus from 6-8 p.m.
9. Daystar Christmas Bedford
November 25 – January 2, 2023, 6 pm to 12 am
Daystar Christmas is an excellent walk-through light show you’ll enjoy. We went a couple of years ago. They are working on getting all the displays set up and ready for the kiddos to see Santa!
10. Christmas On Main Street in Grapevine
Since Grapevine is the Christmas Capital of Texas, it will be very festive in this small town in North Texas. It’s where I will celebrate with friends and family like every year. The city is so festive and so magical. Grapevine sure knows how to show the holiday spirit in their town. Main Street is booming with lights, music, and fake snow!
You can expect holiday happenings in Grapevine this Year. There’s no doubt Santa will be among the gang! Gather the family and head to Grapevine for some magical memories.

12. Christmas Farmer’s Market In Grapevine
Thanksgiving Weekend
Grapevine will have a Christmas Farmer’s Market at the Old Town Gazebo starting the weekend after Thanksgiving. This is my favorite market. Bring money – there is lots of good stuff at this one!
13. Texas Star Dinner Theater – Grapevine
November 18 – December 27
The Texas Star Dinner Theater is a murder mystery dinner theater. Have you been?
This holiday at the theater, plan for dinner here and to see the historical “No Home For The Holidays.” Tickets will be on sale soon. (closed Christmas Eve & Christmas).

Visit the Fort Worth Stockyards at its 21st Annual Christmas in the Stockyards and skate on the ice rink – *New* this year.

They have to have horse-drawn carriage rides this year!
Sadly, Panther Island Ice in Fort Worth will not return this holiday season.

The FWBG transforms with a tunnel of lights along a one-mile path that will dazzle you the whole way through. I can remember when we went in spring. I can picture that lit-up path in my mind. We may have to go to this!
