Take a Michelin Star road trip through Texas!

We got the seal of approval from Michelin! Now that the Michelin Guide has finally landed in Texas, foodies from all over will head out to scope the restaurants. Are you one of them? Are you ready to take a Michelin Guide road trip through Texas? If so, check out the list of Michelin Guide Texas restaurants and start planning that road trip.

The Lone Star State is finally on the Michelin map, from barbecue to sushi. The Michelin Guide Inspectors visited Houston in November 2024 for the Texas’s Inaugural Michelin Guide to announce restaurants in with Michelin star awards. I was able to watch it online. It was very exciting to watch as owners and chefs were awarded for their hard and talented work.

I can’t say I’ve been to any of these restaurants, but that doesn’t matter as long as I have shared the list with you, right?

Don’t get your hopes up for either a 2-star or 3-star restaurant in Texas. No restaurants in Texas made it that far up, but several made the Michelin 1-Star list, and a few made the Bib Gourmand list.

Michelin Guide Texas Restaurants

So, if you’ve been wondering if Michelin Guide will come to Texas, it’s here!! Texas received Michelin 1 Star Restaurants and a Bib Gourmand.

Definitions:

• Michelin 1 Star – High-quality food that’s worth a stop.
• Bib Gourmand – it’s sometimes about something other than the money. This award goes to restaurants that offer good food that is the best value for your buck.
• Green Star – Sustainable initiatives with eco-friendly sourcing of ingredients (respecting the “eating food in its season,” reducing waste, and raising customer awareness.)

Michelin Guide Austin & Central Texas

InterStellar BBQ

Michelin 1 Star – Barbecue cooked low and slow over post oak. Expect long lines even before they open! $$. Address: 12233 Ranch Rd. 620 N.

Barley Swine

Michelin 1 Star – Come casual and enjoy the contemporary flare using local ingredients of Southwestern flavors from Mexican and Southern cuisine.. $$$$. Address: 6555 Burnet Rd.

Craft Omakase

Michelin 1 Star – Chefs Charlie Wang and Nguyen Nguyen promise an impressive Japanese procession of nigiri and other bites. $$$$. Address: 4400 Lamar Blvd. Ste. 102.

Hestia

Michelin 1 Star – In the heart of downtown, enjoy contemporary American cooking. As Michelin describes it – “wood smoke perfumes in the air.” $$$$. Address: 607 W. 3rd St.

la Barbecue

Michelin 1 Star – A custom-built pit in the backyard. Address: 2401 E. Cesar Chavez St.

LeRoy and Lewis Barbecue

Michelin 1 Star – It started as a food truck and is now a brick-and-mortar in Garrison Park. Address: 5621 Emerald Forest Dr.

Olamaie

Michelin 1 Star – A charming spot north of downtown Austin, named after the Chef’s grandmother, mother, and daughter. The chef serves polished American Southern cuisine. Don’t leave before researching the fun cocktail list. $$$. Address: 1610 San Antonio St.

Dai Due

Michelin Bib Gourmand and Green Star—If you want to eat somewhere where most everything, from produce and meat to olive oil and wine, is from Texas, this is your place. $$. Address: 2406 Manor Rd.

Emmer & Rye

Michelin Bib Gourmand and Green Star—its new American menu with its in-house fermentation program and freshly ground heirloom grains. Many ingredients come from Texas’s small farms. $$$. Address: 51 Rainey St.

Nixta Taqueria

Michelin Bib Gourmand is a casual, come-as-you-are East Austin taqueria. Michelin inspectors describe the place as “scrappy” but serves spot-on Mexican meals. $$. Address: 2512 E. 12th St.

Barbs B Q in Lockhart

Michelin Bib Gourmand is the best value for your buck! Barbs B Q is only open on Saturday and Sunday, so expect the line to be long. Now that Michelin has noticed, maybe they’ll open on Friday. $$. Address: 102 E. Market St.

Burnt Bean in Seguin

Michelin Bib Gourmand, where Pitmasters reel in the crowds before the doors open. Looks like it will be barbecue for lunch for many more folks! $$. Address: 108 S. Austin St.

Michelin Guide Dallas

Tatsu Dallas

Michelin 1 Star—Reservations are a must. With only 10 seats at the sushi counter, good luck (now) getting a seat. I see a renovation coming soon, don’t you? $$$$. Address: 3309 Elm St., Ste. 120.

Mot Hai Ba

A Michelin Bib Gourmand where location isn’t everything! This eatery is behind an auto repair shop in a stand-alone building. Inside, there is wood flooring with exposed brick (my kind of place), which adds charm to this Fusion cuisine restaurant with a Vietnamese flare. I wonder how Michelin inspectors found them and if they’ll be moving now. $$. 6407 Lewis St.

Ngon Vietnamese Kitchen

Michelin Bib Gourmand where owner Carol Nguyen shares her love of her homeland’s cooking with visitors. Lower Greenville just went up a notch with this award. Congrats! $$. Address: 1907 Greenville Ave.

Michelin Guide Houston and Spring, TX

BCN Taste & Tradition

Michelin 1 Star – Seafood for the win. Tucked away off Richmond Ave in a 1920s white stucco bungalow. It sounds like the atmosphere is just as good as the food. $$$$. Address: 4210 Roseland St.

Le Jardinier Houston

Michelin 1 Star – French cuisine just like the chef’s other restaurants in Manhattan and Miami. $$$$. Address: 5500 Main St.

Michelin 1 Star – A creative Mediterranean vibe inspired by Africa, Spain, and Greece. $$$$. Address: 1624 Westheimer Rd.

Musaafer

Michelin 1 Star – Locked inside a shopping mall with beautiful arches, towering windows, and elaborate patterns that feel like a palace serving Indian cuisine. $$$$. Address: 5115 Westheimer Rd., Ste C-3500.

Tatemo

Michelin 1 Star – Enjoy a Mexican tortilleria-turned-tasting menu in its place in an empty strip mall. You never know where the Michelin Guide people will find good-tasting food! $$$$. Address: 4740 Dacoma St.

CorkScrew BBQ (Spring, TX)

Michelin 1 Star for barbecue! North of Houston at CorkScrew BBQ, you must arrive before the doors open or get stuck waiting. However, now that this BBQ joint made the Michelin Guide, the line any time is a given! Sells out fast. $$. Address: 26608 Keith St.

Michelin Guide San Antonio

Michelin 1 Star—The acclaimed chef duo behind the counter drives cutting-edge Mexican cuisine, focusing on different parts of Mexico. Menu changes often. $$$$. Address: 812 S. Alamo St., Ste. 103.

Now that Texas has Michelin restaurants, Michelin inspectors have dubbed many of our hotels as “Michelin Keys”—the Best Hotels in Texas. A new article will surface soon, so stay tuned.
