These Texas pet-friendly hotels might not be the ones you think!

Texas has become more pet-friendly over the years, so you will feel comfortable taking your furry friend everywhere. There are so many friendly cities in the Lone Star State that you will find Texas pet-friendly hotels everywhere. You’ll also find various restaurants and events that welcome pets.

Since most pet owners consider their pet(s) part of the family, dog-friendly properties have risen. I’ve stayed at some of the best pet-friendly hotels in Texas and created this list of my favorites.

Texas Pet-Friendly Hotels Are Everywhere!

Years ago, only a small selection of bed and breakfast locations allowed pets. Large hotel chains have learned that allowing pets is just good business. Most large chain hotels welcome your pets with dog treats, toys, and designated walking trails and potty areas. And most offer limited pet-friendly rooms, so booking in advance is highly suggested.

Also, read the hotel’s pet policy because each has pet policies, such as weight limits, the number of pets allowed, or having to sign a pet waiver in case something gets ruined.

Travel Pro Tip: Check each hotel’s policy for bringing service animals.

Best Texas Pet-Friendly Hotels

Traveling with your pet is lovely but can also get expensive. While traveling with my two fur babies, I found the best pet-friendly hotels in Texas that charge little or no fees. Some locations were hotels, and some were bed & breakfast places or homes you can find on websites like Airbnb. There are pros and cons to each, along with different fees.

You’ll also find that most cities in Texas are overall pet-friendly. For example, some of Texas Travel Talk’s writers have enjoyed visiting two cities in North Texas, Plano and Mesquite, that are both pet city friendly.

Texas Pet-Friendly Hotels

1. Hilton Brand Hotels

Hilton Brand Hotels have become very pet-friendly. The Hilton Brands are my favorite hotel chains that I always check first. Upon arrival, most locations have treats at the front desk for your pet and welcome furry guests with open arms. But beware, their fees can range from $0 to $200 depending on location and the type of hotel.

2. Home2 Suites

Home2 Suites is one of the best pet-friendly hotels in Texas and another of my favorite Hilton Brand Hotels. I will usually look for this one first when planning a trip. The rooms have a kitchen, living room, bedroom, and large bathroom. They are very animal-friendly and on the lower end for pet fees. I would call ahead to check the prices, as they differ per location.

3. Homewood Suites

If you want to stay at a place that feels like home, I highly recommend Homewood Suites – another Hilton Brand Hotel. I’ve stayed in some that even have a fireplace. All the locations I have visited have a separate kitchen, dining, and living room, and a door usually separates the bedroom and bathroom. They are pet-friendly, with dedicated pet walking areas and reasonable pet fees.

4. Hampton By Hilton Hotel

This hotel is a hit or miss when it comes to being dog-friendly. I suggest calling ahead to ensure they will accommodate your pet before showing up. I’m adding this hotel to my list because if you are on a road trip through smaller towns, Hampton Inn by Hilton Hotel is sometimes your only choice of hotel. They are one of the older lines in the Hilton Brand Hotel line.

5. Marriott Brand Hotels

With Marriott Hotels, you run into different charges for pets. I have paid anywhere from $20 to $150 for my pups to stay in these hotels. Marriott has become more pet-friendly over the last few years. I attribute that to so many people traveling with their pets. Be sure to check ahead of time on the different hotels under the Marriott umbrella for their fees and rules.

6. Residence Inn

Residence Inn is probably my favorite of the Marriott Brand Hotels to stay at with my pups. They were the first Marriott brand to allow pets. They welcomed our dogs and even had a jar of doggy treats when we arrived. Like most hotels, the pups aren’t allowed in the breakfast area, fitness center, or pool but are welcomed almost anywhere else. The fees here will usually run around $100.

7. TownePlace Suites

More and more TownePlace Suites are becoming available nationwide, which is great for travelers who want to bring their pets along. Townplace is an economy hotel under the Marriott umbrella, but they don’t skimp on amenities. This hotel is an excellent choice for a pet-friendly hotel with complimentary breakfast, workout facilities, and high-end accommodations. Though their pet fees usually run around $75 per stay.

8. Red Roof Inn – No Pet Fees

Red Roof is one of those hidden gems of a hotel chain. They have been around forever and have made many updates to their existing hotels. Red Roof loves pets so much that there is no additional charge for your pet. Part of their marketing is towards people who travel with pets. And their suites have plenty of space for your dog to roam around. This is a pet-friendly hotel to put on your list. Kim Croisant wrote an excellent article on her recent stay at Red Roof – Where Pets Stay For Free!

Be sure to read the Red Roof Inn Pet Policy just to be safe.

Texas Pet-Friendly Hotels

9. Pet-Friendly Boutique Hotels And Getaways

For the most part, boutique hotels don’t charge for the pups to stay, making them the best pet-friendly hotels in Texas to book. Some of these fall under the “Brand” hotel umbrellas, but many boutique hotels encourage pet-friendly stays.

One of the best pet-friendly stays I’ve ever experienced is at a Getaway House. They have a pet fee of $40, enabling you to share your experiences through social media. There was a bag of doggy treats waiting for the girls and a bag of s’more’s fixings when we stayed. Their getaways (tiny cabins) are in nature with hiking trails all around, making it the perfect place to take your dog for a walk. If you like what you see at Getaway, use this promo code GREENMOM for $25 off your next weekend’s escape!

Texas Pet-Friendly Hotels

10. Cottages And Airbnb

Airbnb is an excellent choice for a long weekend. They usually require a 2-night stay, and pet fees and a non-refundable cleaning fee vary from place to place. I like to book Airbnb stays because you know upfront when booking how much the pet fee will be, which is usually reasonable, $50 – $150 for the whole stay.

Expert Travel Tip On Pet-friendly Hotels In Texas

One fundamental way to get the best deal on a pet-friendly hotel in Texas is to join the hotel brand rewards program. The program will help offset the pet fee a bit. I have found some of the best rewards programs with Hilton Honors, Marriott Rewards, and IHG Hotels.

So, check out these pet-friendly accommodations on your next trip and consider taking along your furry family member. Next up are dog-friendly restaurants in Texas.

Other hotel chains that did not make my list are Drury Hotels, Quality Inn, Rodeway Inn, Comfort Suites, and other budget hotels.
