unique glamping spots in Texas

Discover these unique glamping spots in Texas for a perfect anytime getaway.

Winter, spring, summer, or fall—winter is the best time to get out, enjoy nature …and camp (my opinion). Let’s go camping …with amenities! Whether you’re looking for luxury glamping or just glamping, these unique glamping spots in Texas will surely resonate with your taste.

What are you looking for when seeking a glamping site? One with a hot tub, air conditioning, a private deck in the back, a comfy king-sized bed, or all the above? What if I told you I know where you can find it all?

The list here includes glamping and luxury glamping spots, all of which are top-notch and ready to help you create a unique Texas glamping experience.

Unique Glamping Spots In Texas

Whether it’s a safari tent, yurt, treehouse, Conestoga wagon, or a unique luxury cabin, you’ll find several glamping spots throughout the Lone Star State to choose from that are completely away from everyone in serene areas with endless adventures to explore. I’m sure a few on this list are perfect for you and whoever you bring along.

Best of all, you can try something new if you’re new to glamping. I’m hooked on this way of camping …with amenities, of course!

I have encountered many different styles of glamping, including luxury ones. I prefer the luxury of home, or better, these below are fun and kid-friendly and probably cheaper than the luxury ones.

Unique Glamping Spots In Texas
Inside the Yurt at Paradise Springs on Lake Grapevine

Glamping In North Texas

Paradise Cove On Grapevine Lake

Experience lakeside glamping on Lake Grapevine in a yurt at Paradise Cove. The yurt features air conditioning and heating, a mini-fridge, a microwave, a comfortable bed, and a private bathroom with a shower steps away from the yurt. Yes, the bathroom is outside the yurt.

It’s a quiet spot on a private peninsula on Lake Grapevine. Don’t use your phone’s alarm for an early morning wake-up call – the nearby roosters will do that for you! At least they did for me. What I like about this stay is that the lake is close by. If you have your own kayak, it’s a perfect place to get in the water and go.

I did stay here and felt safe going to the bathroom in the middle of the night. There are lights you can turn on and a flashlight.

Contesta Glamping Wagon at night – Silver Spur Resort in Canton, TX

Silver Spur Resort, Canton, TX

For a fun experience, glamping in Texas for families, glamp in a Conestoga Wagon. Silver Spur Resort is a resort for RVers, campers, and glampers located an hour east of Dallas and minutes from Canton’s First Monday Trade Days.

The Conestoga wagons are climate-controlled and feature a comfortable king-size bed, bunk beds, and a small table. It’s the perfect size for a family of four or six. There are stairs to climb to access the wagons, and the restrooms and showers are located a few steps away and are exclusively available to Conestoga guests.

Each site features an outdoor grill and a common area for roasting hot dogs and s’mores. A smokehouse-style restaurant is on-site for those nights you don’t feel like grilling.

Since I was there, they have added treehouses. So, don’t forget to check those out on the website.

Travel Tip: Bring a flashlight for those late-night trips to the restroom. No pets are allowed in the wagons.

Geronimo Creek Retreat, Seguin, TX

Kelly and her family spent some time at the Geronimo Creek Retreat and couldn’t say enough good things about it. I can see how a family would enjoy this place. There are numerous outdoor activities available, including swimming and kayaking. All sites are insulated and temperature-controlled. Some cabins and teepees have private detached bathrooms, while the more luxurious ones have bathrooms inside.

Outdoor shower at Best Day Ever Ranch

Best Day Ever Ranch, Whitewright, TX

Would you glamp up in a tree? Or how about taking a shower outdoors? Sure, you would! If this sounds good, you may want to check out Best Day Ever Ranch in North Texas, about an hour’s drive north of Dallas.

You’ll find a cozy treehouse that sleeps two, complete with luxurious, romantic amenities and a bathtub by the window, making it the perfect spot to soak for a long time. It’s located on the ranch in a perfectly hidden area. There are steep stairs that lead up to it. Some cabins have an outdoor shower (and an indoor one), but the steep stairs inside the cabin lead up to a loft. You may want to ask if other cabins do not have stairs.

All renters are welcome to participate in all ranch activities, including the clubhouse with games, acres of hiking trails, fishing in the nearby pond, and even a golf cart to explore the grounds. We had a blast tooling around the ranch and going to the pond on that golf cart.

Nutty’s Camp Jefferson, Downtown Jefferson, TX

How about indoor glamping? Yep, three tents with two beds on hardwood floors in downtown Jefferson. Only one bath, though!! If you don’t mind sharing a bathroom with five others, grab your girlfriends and split the $130-a-night fee and any additional costs. You can all go shopping and have a great time in charming Jefferson, Texas—look for Nutty’s Camp Jefferson on Airbnb.

Luxury Glamping In Texas

It’s better than a home away from home with luxury linens, gorgeous decor, king-sized beds, modern amenities, and clawfoot tubs! Below are luxury glamping sites in Texas.

The Yurtopian in Dripping Springs

The Yurtopian Hill Country Resort

Wimberley or Dripping Springs

It is an adult-only property, and pets are not allowed. I wanted to get that out immediately because I know plenty of people who love their pets to come along. There are two stunning glamping styles here, both with modern amenities. I have not been here, but after seeing it all, I hope to check them out next time I’m in the Texas Hill Country.

So, you have to decide if you want everything for yourself or almost everything, but you’ll share common areas with other glampers. Take a look at The Yurtopian and decide for yourself. Plus, Wimberley is a quaint town that you’ll fall in love with repeatedly. It’s a good thing because there are more glamping sites there. See below.

Sinya On Lone Man Creek – Wimberley

I think I found my favorite outdoor space – a cascading waterfall! Indoor amenities are plentiful here, including a king bed with comforters, goose-down pillows, a claw-foot tub, Turkish towels, and a fully stocked kitchen. You won’t even know you’re out in nowhere’s land. Sinya On Lone Man Creek is a place to check out and one of my favorite unique glamping spots in Texas.

Walden Retreats – Johnson City, TX Photo Credit: Will Graham Photography

Walden Retreats, Johnson City, TX

Just outside the quaint town of Johnson City in the Hill Country is Walden Retreats, a premium glamping getaway. The 96-acre property features seven suites, eight studios, an event pavilion, and a welcoming lobby featuring a curated general store. These 15 fully enclosed safari-style canvas tents combine the amenities of a luxury hotel with the adventure of camping outdoors.

I stayed here in 2021. I remember the a/c not cooling the tent between 4-6 p.m. It was hot. Hopefully, they solved the problem.

WOW – just wow. Can you imagine the many wineries in the hill country—lots? Or, of course, you can bring your own, which is probably a good idea. Who would want to leave?

Green Acres, Elgin (near San Antonio)

At Green Acres, you’ll have your favorite spots to rent, such as yurts with organic bedding or an airstream, a family barn, and more. Even though the yurts don’t have an inside bathroom, I still call them luxuries. I’d be there in a flash! Just bring a flashlight! The other glamping sites have luxurious bathrooms.

Wahwahtaysee Resort, Kingsbury (near Austin)

Can you handle luxury lodging in a two-bedroom luxury tent with a river view? There are also one-bedroom luxury tents as well. All tents feature premium amenities and ample natural lighting. Wahwahtaysee Resort, situated with the river in view, offers opportunities for hiking, pecan picking in the orchard, and exploring the private beaches along the San Marcos River. Located only an hour south of Austin and 1-hour northeast of San Antonio, this place is a fantastic getaway from both cities. I could live in one of these.

El Cosmico – Marfa

Discover these unique experiences in extraordinary locations. There are plenty of glamping-style pickings to choose from here. Choose your favorite way to sleep, whether in a rustic tent, trailer, teepee, safari tent, or yurt, and have a great time out in nature.

Anytime an eyeball stares at you, you know there’s something unique going on. Check out their website, El Cosmico, and I bet it will take you back to the 60s.

These unique glamping spots in Texas are quite pricey, so choose wisely and have a great time. And if you like glamping, I know you’ll love treehouse glamping in Texas.

You may want to check a map for your other references as well.
Elgin is “Near San Antonio” if by near you mean 90 minutes up I 35. Elgin is 30 minutes east of Austin.
Kingsbury is “Near Austin” if you mean an hours drive south on I 35 or the toll way. It’s 10 minutes from SEGUIN and 30 minutes or so from San Antonio.
