An abundance of forests in East Texas offers many camping opportunities and plenty of shade. Check out these 12 best RV campgrounds in East Texas for your camping wants and needs. If you’re an RVer and want to visit East Texas, these RV campgrounds are a great resource.

To me, East Texas is the most favorable region. This is East Texas RV camping at its finest. Now, I want to go RVing!

15 RV Campgrounds In East Texas

Though I haven’t camped at every place on this list, I have traveled near and far in East Texas and love it! I love the tall pine trees and how every tree seems to stay green year-round. It can get quite humid sometimes, and an extra camping portable air conditioner might be handy. No matter where you pull up your RV, you’ll find beautiful campgrounds in the Piney Woods of East Texas.

Some campgrounds offer water activities, such as kayaking, fishing, and boating. There are also many opportunities to see wildlife, wildflowers, and things growing in the ground that you probably have never seen! Camping in RVs is becoming increasingly popular, whether you own one or want to try out RV rental.

If you will be on the road, finding a good place to pull off the highway is a good idea. Finding RV campgrounds in East Texas can be challenging, but we’ve got you covered. Here are 12 of the best places for RV Camping in East Texas.

1. Laguna Vista RV Park – Marshall

One of my favorite East Texas towns is Marshall. I went on the most wonderful horseback ride I’ve ever been on. I was a little spoiled as I had the owner all to myself – she even let me trot the horse. I’d go back to Karma Farms in a heartbeat.

Laguna Vista RV Park offers pull-throughs and back-in spots. Enjoy nature, birdwatching, relaxing by the fire, and perhaps take a walk to a nearby pond.

2. RV Camping At Lake O’ The Pines

Anywhere in the Pines is a good day for camping. But just a short drive west of the charming town of Jefferson is where RV camping is as good as it gets. Brushy Creek Campground at Lake O’ The Pines offers RV sites with a beach for swimming, a boat ramp, and tent sites. You’ll enjoy the tall pine trees and incredible lake views.

3. RV Park Near Tyler, TX & State Park RV Campsites

Find full hook-ups with lake views or campsites smack dab in the middle of the deep forest, or opt for something else. Either way, Tyler State Park has it all. There are many options and campsite rules, so read the latest news before heading out. RV parks in the Tyler, Texas, area are plentiful.

Also, check out Hidden Lake RV Park in Tyler, Texas, for quietness! (noted on their website).

4. RV Sites On Lake Palestine

At Lake Palestine Resort in Frankston, Texas, you can have all the space you need at one of its spacious sites. The resort offers a wide range of amenities and activities for guests to enjoy, including fishing, boating, swimming, and golfing. It also has comfortable accommodations and friendly staff, making your stay enjoyable and memorable.

So get that big rig all spruced up and have a great time. Boating and fishing are big-time sports there. RV pull-throughs are also available.

Balk Cypress Trees at Caddo Lake

5. Backwater Jacks Caddo Lake RV Park

From the looks of their website, you’re in for a treat if you park and camp at Backwater Jacks. If you have the time, take a guided tour of Caddo Lake. Many outfitters do this, and it’s trendy in this area.

6. Stillwater RV Resort

A New RV luxury resort near Tyler. Put this place on your radar for heavenly lounging in and around a heated saltwater pool, lazy river, and swim-up bar—more amenities than you can imagine. Look up Stillwater RV Resort, conveniently located off I-20 near Tyler.

7. Nacogdoches RV Parks

Whether you’re looking for somewhere quiet or an area with many amenities, Nacogdoches will most likely offer you something remarkable. Places like Camp Tonkawa Springs RV Park and Piney Woods RV Park are beautiful places to stop for a weekend or a whole week.

8. RV Park On Lake Athens

If you’re interested in great views of Lake Athens, sitting around the fire pit, and largemouth bass, you’ll want to bring your RV out here for as long as possible. The park has been updated to include free Wi-Fi, but who needs the internet when you’ve got nature, water, and a relaxed place to stay? Lake Athens Marina & RV Park has a spot just for you!

Travel Tip: If you have the time and want to wander around Athens, the East Texas Arboretum is beautiful. You can take long walks around the grounds while marveling at the flowers and structures.

9. Mill Creek Ranch Resort – Canton

No roughing it here! If you’re a fan of First Monday Trade Days in Canton, you should probably check out the award-winning Mill Creek Ranch Resort. Welcome to the 21st-century RV campsite coupled with the ageless East Texas scene. Everything from event facilities, fun programs for the whole family, and venues out of this world. It’s one of the luxury RV parks in East Texas.

10. Silver Spur Resort – Canton

Another RV campground popped into my mind  – it’s in Canton. I stayed in their Treehouse last summer (2022). The Silver Spur Resort (KOA) is right off Interstate 20 and Hwy 19. It’s very close to the Trade Days. There are RVs all over the place out here. They also do weddings and have a fantastic swimming pool and pond.

11. Mineola RV Parks

Five stars for Somewhere RV Park with a dog park, free WIFI, a fitness room, and a laundry room. If this sounds good, book it! Sounds good to me. I’ve been to the downtown area and can vouch for the small-town charm and the beautiful countryside. Mineola Nature Preserve on the Sabine River is a fantastic area to roam if you want to get out and about.

12. Jellystone Park RV Camping – Tyler

Grandparents, rev up the RV and grab the grandkids for a happy time of camping and playing at Jellystone Park at Whispering Pines, located just outside Tyler. It’s a year-round family resort, and I almost bet you’ll never hear the words, “I’m bored.

We’ve added a couple more RV parks in Southeast Texas.

13. New Adventure RV Park And Horse Hotel

Got a horse? Please bring it to Coldsprings, TX, at the New Adventure RV Park & Horse Hotel. Because horseback riding is allowed anywhere in a National Forest, the Sam Houston National Forest has trails for you. Additionally, Lake Livingston State Park features miles of trails for biking and hiking. They also have a general store in case you leave something behind.

14. Best RV Parks On Lake Livingston

There are two on Hwy 190 and two on FM 2457. You can’t go wrong with any of these spots around the lake. Check out these – Two Creek Crossing RV Resort & KOA Lake Livingston.

15. Bushman’s RV Park

Address: 5112 US 69, Bullard, TX, 75757 (Near Tyler). Only three miles away is the Kiepersol Winery, Distillery, and Restaurant. Check out Bushman’s RV Park.
