Fredericksburg is in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, aka Texas Wine Country, and you must visit soon!
When you think of Fredericksburg, what comes to mind? Wine tastings, Texas wines, award-winning wines – all three? If so, you may want to know the winners we’ve visited the past two years. I’ve created this list of wineries in Fredericksburg, TX, which is a great start to what’s available in the area. Of course, there are amazing things to do in Fredericksburg that don’t involve wine. However, good Texas wine is a massive part of why this town in the Hill Country is so popular. When it comes to the best wineries, you’ll find them in this small town in Texas Hill Country.
Fredericksburg, Texas, is located in the heart of Texas wine country. It is about an hour north of San Antonio, a little over an hour’s drive from Austin, and roughly a four-hour drive from the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.
There are roughly 100 wineries in the Texas Hill Country, and about 60 are in Fredericksburg. Though we haven’t visited them all, we have put a dent in it. And, though we love all wineries in the area, this article spotlights some of the top ones in Fredericksburg, TX.

A-List of Wineries in Fredericksburg, TX
From the wineries on Hwy 290, aka Wine Road, to the wine tasting rooms on Main Street and the rest scattered outside of town, we’ve endured some great wines in the past three years – most while participating on the Texas Hill Country Wine Trail. Have you heard of this wine trail? It saves you money …on wine! It happens four times a year, and the next one is NOW for Wine Month (October).

Grape Creek Vineyards
A premium winery that specializes in French & Italian wines, with Tuscan-inspired tasting rooms. They offer food, tours, and a lovely tasting room with wine accessories for sale. Enjoy your time on the covered patio.
Grape Creek Winery shares the same parking lot as Heath Sparkling Wine, which the Heath Family owns.
Wines: Texas, French, and Italian
Address: 10587 US-290, Fredericksburg, TX 78624

Heath Sparkling Wines
A modern tasting room with sparkling wines and bites. Ask for a wine tasting paired with food. It’s pretty cool. We were hosted here and enjoyed several sparking tastes paired with bites of food from different cuisines. Sorry, I can not remember what they were, but they are pictured in the above photo.
Don’t forget – park and enjoy two wineries in the same location.
Wines: Fine Sparkling Wines
Address: 10591 US-290, Fredericksburg, TX 78624

Inventions Vineyards
Another winery owned by the Heath Family. I enjoyed a wine-tasting solo and the one-on-one camaraderie with the employee behind the counter and her knowledge of the wine she was serving me. I bought a couple of bottles, too.
Wines: Texas Whites, Reds, & Rose
Top Rated: Texas Cabernet Sauvignon, Viognier & Tempranillo. My favorite is Sangiovese
Address: 4222 S State Hwy 16, Fredericksburg, TX 78624

Barons Creek Vineyards
A family-owned winery and vineyard right on Wine Road. One of my girlfriends has a wine membership here, so we visited during the wine pick-up party and enjoyed a glass of wine with her. I love it here, especially outdoors in the back, walking around and seeing all the flowers. I’d love to go back in the fall.
If you feel like staying longer, they have Villas for rent, which look lovely from the back porch.
Wines: Texas wines
Address: 5865 E, US-290, Fredericksburg, TX 78624
Becker Vineyards
Becker Vineyards is one of the two oldest wineries in the Texas Hill Country and the first winery I visited many years ago when wine was not my thing. I just went along for the ride. I remember my sister and friends trying to talk me into tasting wine, and they thought I should try it with a sweet wine. Years later, I realized my favorite wine is dry reds!
Wines: Texas wines and AVAs
Address: 307 US-87, Fredericksburg, TX 78624
Texas Heritage Winery
I dubbed this winery my favorite the first time I participated in the Texas wine trail, but I haven’t been back since, and that was two years ago. We sat outside on the back deck and watched deer run through the meadow while meeting new friends and noting how many brought their dogs. The customer service was top-notch, and I had the chance to meet the owner, who was very nice and welcomed us back anytime. I can’t believe I haven’t been back, but I was able to visit many other wineries and tasting rooms in the area.
Wines: 100% Texas wines
Address: 3245 E US, US-290, Fredericksburg, TX 78624

Signor Vineyards
I describe this beautiful winery as an all-white elegant vineyard. There is ample seating indoors and outdoors, and it is a great place to celebrate any occasion. Although I wasn’t happy with the customer service we received the second time we went, I’m willing to give them another try because I did like their Oregon wines enough to buy two bottles during our tour and wine tasting with Visit Fredericksburg.
Wines: Texas and Oregon
Address: 362 Livesay Ln, Fredericksburg, TX 78624

Kalisi Cellars
I visited here while on a media trip in Fredericksburg. I loved the owners and their background story of how they came to Hill Country to start a winery and their Indian-inspired tasting room, but the wines tasted different than I’m used to. But don’t take my word for it, visit them when you can. They also serve Indian food.
Address: 414 Goehmann Ln, Fredericksburg, TX 78624
Wines: 100% Estate-grown Texas wines

Messina Hof Hill Country Winery
I haven’t been to the Messina Hof in Fredericksburg (yet), but my go-to Messina Hof is in Grapevine. A friend and I had the pleasure of recently being hosted at the Messina Hof Estate Winery in Bryan, TX. I love their wines so much that I joined their wine club.
Manor Haus B&B on the property would be an excellent choice to check out for a weekend stay. If it’s anything like the Villa B&B at Messina Hof in Bryan, TX, you’re in for a lovely treat – especially with breakfast.
Wines: Award-winning wines from 100% Texas grapes.
My favorite and a top seller is their Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon.
Address: 9996 US-290, Fredericksburg, TX 78624
This list will continue as we (or me) visit more wineries in Fredericksburg.
