North Fort Worth has been a bustling area ever since the Texas Motor Speedway, also known as TMS, was built and gained recognition. I should know – I live nearby. I’ve seen this area explode with thriving businesses, and the small town of Justin has become an icon for race track goers. Besides the numerous restaurants near the TX race track, there are also a variety of activities to enjoy near Texas Motor Speedway for those looking to do something else while the races are not in progress. Come take a look!
Things To Do Near Texas Motor Speedway
Although the Speedway is considered in Fort Worth, Justin, TX, claims it, or at least the locals do. When someone asks where I live, I always say, “near the Texas Motor Speedway,” and they know exactly what I’m talking about. Justin is home to Justin Discount Boots, which attracts tourists on most weekends. It also has great restaurants and a huge antique mall.
1. Justin Discount Boots
Hwy 156 at 1st and 2nd Streets (Take Petty Dr from the Speedway, right on Hwy 156)
Not one, not two, but three buildings full of western wear at the Justin Discount Boots stores.
2. Buc-ees Fort Worth
I-35 & Hwy 114
Why, yes, there is a Buc-ees near the Texas Motor Speedway. Better yet, it’s within walking distance. You just have to cross a busy intersection – so don’t let your kids go alone. I don’t think I need to explain what a Buc-ees can offer, but we locals still love to go in there just to see what’s new.
3. Large Antique Store in Justin, TX
Hwy 156 & 3rd Street in Justin
If you’re into antiques, visit The Classy Cactus in Justin Monday through Saturday. They have over 55 vendors inside that huge building. They also have used boots, brand new decor, women’s used clothes, women’s hats, crochet items, men’s sports, and so much more.
4. Tanger Outlets Fort Worth
I-35 & Hwy 114
Again, you can walk here from the Speedway, but if I were you, I’d save my steps for walking around the outdoor mall. There are over 70 stores there, including Ulta, The Loft, Converse, The Gap, Fossil, Guess, Bath & Body Works, etc.

I-35 back behind Tanger Outlets – just look for the tall net.
6. Hawaiian Falls Waterpark
Hwy 114 & Byron Nelson Blvd
Are the kids with you for the weekend? They’d love to play around in the water during the operation season, which is weekends in May through weekends in early September, but see hfalls.com for more information, and the exact days and hours of operation.
7. DFW Adventure Park
Off Hwy 114
DFW Adventure Park offers paintball, airsoft, and more. There used to be a zip line, but it’s no longer there.
8. Fort Worth Stockyards
22 Miles / 28 Minutes from TMS – Take I-35
If you’d like to travel a bit further, we suggest visiting the Fort Worth Stockyards. It’s totally worth the trip, especially to scope out Billy Bob’s, real cowboys (ha), the John Wayne Museum, Cowtown Coliseum, and a cattle drive featuring longhorns and cowboys twice a day at 11:00 am and 4:00 pm.
9. Southlake Town Square
13 Miles/ 20 Minutes (or more)
Brace yourself, there is construction on Hwy 114, so give yourself an extra 10 minutes to get to Southlake. Southlake Town Square offers upscale shopping, including Pottery Barn, Starbucks, AT&T Store, William Sonoma, and many more (over 100 stores). Plus a Pressed Juicery, a movie theater, restaurants, a hotel, Barnes & Noble, a small park with a water fountain, and a walking path.
10. Visit Grapevine, TX
17 Miles/ 24 Minutes (or more)
Again, a little further east on Hwy 114 is a world of shops, boutiques, wineries, restaurants, and more, all along Main Street. Another place that is well worth the drive. Go on a Saturday and you might run into their Farmer’s Market – it’s a good one. Bring good walking shoes.
11. Cinnamon Creek Ranch
I-35 & Westport Parkway
An archery center, a pro shop, and a wildgame processing center. Check out their archery complex. Look on Google for a coupon for archery.

13. Coffee Shops Near The Texas Motor Speedway
How far will you go for a good cup of coffee? You don’t have to go too far, because there are several coffee shops in Justin, located just around the corner from the TX Motor Speedway on Petty Drive and Highway 156.
- Kahaw Coffee Roasters – Hwy 156
- Higher Grounds – Hwy 156 in town
- Justin Coffee & Trading Co., Hwy 407, by the oil change place and the grocery store
- Coffee Cabana of Texas (if it’s still open), it’s the closest on Hwy 156
14. Marty B’s Live Venue & BBQ

7Live venues are a popular thing all over the Lone Star State. Marty B’s is a great place for just that. The rustic vibe and location are spot on, and it’s welcoming to families, plus its barbecue is good, too! There is outdoor seating as well as a fire pit where you can roast s’mores when you buy a s’mores kit. We did that once, and I loved it as much as my son did.
15. Alliance Shopping Center
12 Miles / 16 Minutes – I-35 & Heritage Trace
Just up the Interstate is more shopping, plus a Best Buy, Chick-fil-A, Sam Moon, furniture stores, Dick’s, a cinema, restaurants, Kroger, JCPenney, a pet store,
