Who wants to escape city life for nature? Says, everyone! Getting away on the weekend to spend time in nature offers the benefits of solitude, fresh air, exercise, and more. If you’re a nature lover, you’ll probably be outside more than inside, so don’t let the word “tiny” scare you. Here are fabulous cabin rentals in Texas to explore.

If hiking, cooking your meals on a fire pit, camping with full amenities, and getting away from the hustle and bustle of city traffic interests you, then you’re ready to camp in a cabin near you! Camping, to me, is a great way to relax and let go. Bring a hammock, find two trees, and relax with a book. Spring is around the corner, making it a great time to get away from the city and enjoy the outdoors.

Tiny Cabin Rentals In Texas

A little over an hour from the city, there are Getaway cabins in three different Regions of Texas – Dallas, Houston, and Austin / San Antonio, where you can roll up your sleeves and play in nature or, better yet, take off your shirt! In addition, you’ll have modern amenities, including a bathroom with a shower, a mini-refrigerator, a comfortable queen bed(s), and a small kitchen – everything like home. Just think of it this way – it’s a home away from home—but smaller!

Great news if you have a dog! Getaway is pet-friendly. You can bring your dog(s) and cat(s) for a small fee, and they even leave treats in the cabin. I’ve got my dogs twice, and yummy biscuits were waiting for them when we arrived.

Cabin Rentals Near Houston

In Navasota, TX, you’ll find about 40 cabins on wheels tucked away in the tall pine trees in the Brazos Valley near Houston. This area offers many hiking trails, and you’re only a short drive from famous ice cream!

Things to do Near Navasota:

• Blue Bell Creameries in Brenham, TX

Side trips are always fun, especially when they involve ice cream–in your favorite flavor, too! Up the road in Brenham, TX, is where Blue Bell Creameries makes its ice cream. There is a Blue Bell museum that plays a film about the history of Blue Bell, and you can see the ice cream cartons of the era you grew up in. That’s not all. Take a few steps out the door to the parlor and buy a scoop of your favorite ice cream for only one dollar—no tax.

Remember to get a photo of you and your family by the old ice cream truck on the other side of the museum.

Travel Pro Tip: The ice cream parlor is open only during the week, not on weekends.

• Barrington Living History Farm

There’s more to do in Brenham if you have the time. Besides its quaint downtown, Barrington Living History Farm is where you can step back to 1850 to see how people lived then, how cotton was grown (pick cotton yourself), how they used oxen (real oxen) on the farm, and more. They even let us pick tomatoes and pears to take home.

Cabin Rentals Near Dallas

East Texas Piney Woods – LaRue, Texas

Put your phone away, turn off all Wi-Fi, and build a fire. It’s that simple. We enjoyed hamburgers on the grill made by Brody. He was very excited about how they turned out—yummy! This is when you want to get out of that hammock I mentioned above. Ideally, you can spot two trees or have a hammock on a stand. Either way, bring it along!

Things to do in LaRue and the Area:

• Zipline

There’s a zipline course near this camp called New York Texas Zipline Adventure. Brody and I have zipped there twice. It’s impressive, and we wouldn’t mind returning for another round. The daring ones zip the whole nine lines!

• Athens & Tyler are not far away, with plenty to do in each town.

 

Tiny Cabin Rentals Near Austin

Wimberley – Texas Hill Country

Tucked away in the beautiful hill country in the small town of Wimberley are tiny cabins with nature trails at your front door, the Blue Hole nearby, and a thrilling zipline in the vicinity. Wimberley is halfway between Austin and San Antonio, making it a convenient location for these tiny cabin rentals. What a location!

We haven’t been to this one, but it’s on our list.
