Dallas is a cultural and commercial center with over a million people and a real sense of history and diversity. It is home to the Dallas Cowboys and Dallas Mavericks, many museums, fabulous restaurants for everyone’s budget, nightclubs, and outdoor recreation. But Dallas, Texas, is most known as the site of the JFK’s assassination in 1963. Check out our top attractions in Dallas, Texas.

Dallas is now one of the ten largest cities in the United States. It has a lot of history, natural beauty, and a diverse population, giving it a unique atmosphere. Its natural beauty is delightful, as are its fantastic architecture, street art installations, and world-class museums. Let’s delve into the best things to do in Dallas for the whole family.

17 Top Attractions In Dallas, Texas

Big D, history buffs, historic buildings, and everything you’ve about Dallas is true – you need to come for a visit!!

1. The Katy Trail

Bring your hiking shoes.

Dallas also has some of the most beautiful parks and outdoor activities, with The Katy Trail being one of the best. Built where an old railroad line used to be, the trail now has 3.5 miles of well-kept hiking paths and gets more than 1.5 million visitors yearly. The park is a great place to work out and enjoy the area’s natural beauty. It opens at 5:00 am for those early morning hikes—restrooms on premises.

2. Dallas Farmer’s Market

Downtown Dallas

The Dallas Farmer’s Market is a great place to see how important agriculture is in the area. The Market has been around since 1941 and has two main parts: The Shed and The Market. The Shed is where the weekly farmers market is held every Saturday and Sunday, where you can buy local food and handmade items. The Market is open daily from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm and has local restaurants, gift shops, and retail stores.

The last time I was there, I saw free parking in a parking garage. Be sure to look for it. Sorry, I can’t remember its name, but it’s across the street from the Market.

3. Trinity Groves

West Dallas

Trinity Groves is a Dallas landmark offering a diverse array of restaurants, art, boutiques, and many murals for selfies. Just look for the white arch on the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge. There are many photo opportunities on that bridge, and it has an awesome view of downtown Dallas.

4. Perot Museum of Nature and Science

Victory Park

A brain stimulant museum for everyone, the Perot Museum is a natural history and science museum with permanent and changing exhibits. We love the permanent dinosaur exhibit. The museum is celebrating ten years in business this year.

5. Reunion Tower & Reunion Tower GeO-Deck

Downtown Dallas

Take a tour and see Dallas from a new view at one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks by exploring the observation tower at the top of the Reunion Tower. Whether you want to see Dallas during the day or the city lights at night, there are several touring packages on the GeO-Deck. Currently, the restaurants are closed for renovation, but you can still go up to the tower to see below. It does cost to tour the tower.

6. Dallas Arboretum And Botanical Gardens

Always decked out for every holiday and every season.

For a nice day of walking outside through the medley of flowers, the Dallas Arboretum offers something special for the whole family. Load up on those family photos at one of the best botanical gardens in the world.

7. Dallas Cattle Drive Sculptures

Convention Centre District of Downtown

The Dallas Cattle Drive Sculptures in Pioneer Plaza combine art and western history. You can take some really unique photos as you walk around the life-size statues of three horse-riding cowboys and a herd of 40 longhorn cattle. It’s a memorable experience that teaches you about the skill and dangers of this old way of life and gives you some great photos for Instagram.

REV The Cattle Drive Sculptures are located on Pioneer Plaza in the Convention Centre district of downtown Dallas. It is huge, with tree riders and about 50 bronze steers, crossing a small waterway.

8. Bishop Arts District

North Oak Cliff

The district in southern Dallas is a must-see for a change of pace and style. Over 60 self-owned boutiques, coffee shops, art galleries, and restaurants show the cultural and ethnic diversity of Dallas. You can enjoy traditional BBQ, Vietnamese specialties, and Mexican food, then walk around the district to see the venues. The Bishop Arts District is one of Dallas’ most unique neighborhoods.

9. The Sixth Floor Museum At Dealey Plaza

JFK Tribute

The Sixth Floor Museum is in the book depository at Dealey Plaza. This is because it was the place where President John F. Kennedy was killed. The museum honors the history and legacy of one of the most beloved US Presidents. It’s more than just a story of what happened that day, though, because it often has special programs about his life and the area.

10. Dallas Museum of Art

Free Admission

The Dallas Museum of Art has over 25,000 pieces worldwide over the past 5,000 years. This museum is a must-see for anyone visiting Dallas. It has exhibits that change all the time, interactive programs, Texas art, and live concerts.

11. Crow Collection of Asian Art

The University of Texas at Dallas – Downtown

The Crow Collection of Asian Art is also in the Art District. It is a free museum, but donations are welcome. It has a fantastic South East Asia, China, Japanese, and Indian art collection. The Crow Museum works with local communities to celebrate Asian art by putting on shows that focus on specific aspects and techniques. Even though it is a relatively new museum, it now has one of the most varied collections of Asian art in the world, with pieces from ancient times to the present day.

12. Klyde Warren Park

Located between Uptown and Downtown

Klyde Warren Park is a great place to spend time outdoors with daily activities and special events. Check out the website for “things to do.” I’ve been told there are food trucks.

Valet parking is $15.

13. Galleria Dallas (Malls in Dallas)

North Dallas

A beautiful mall where ice skating is every day – not just during the holidays, but the iconic 95-foot-tall Christmas tree in the middle of the skating rink is a site to see… and upscale shopping is the best. If you see this during the holidays, the Galleria is a wonderful place to spend a few hours. Free parking.

NorthPark Center, The Shops at Park Lane, Preston Town Center, and many more areas for shopping are available all over Dallas.

14. Dallas Zoo

15. Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum

16. John F. Kennedy Memorial Plaza

17. Medieval Times Dallas
