Most people set weight loss goals at the beginning of a new year – Texas Travel Talk sets travel goals. As we continue to explore our great state in 2025 and share great places to visit in Texas and top city attractions, we want to ask our readers for their feedback. As I write and edit articles for this site, I wonder if it’s what our readers are looking for. Please let us know. Let’s talk about where to stay in Texas in 2025 & 2026.

Our research for this article came from one of our favorite magazines, emails we receive, and our own experiences. Whether you’re looking for that unique stay, a luxury hotel, or a family-friendly motel, we have something for everyone’s travel style. Where To Stay in Texas in 2025

Get out your bucket list and a pen (if you’re still “old hat”) and jot these places down for all your travels through the Lone Star State.

Hall Park Hotel Guest Room (Frisco, TX)

North Texas

Hall Park Hotel – Frisco

One of Frisco, Texas’ newest hotels, Hall Park Hotel, will be the place to stay in 2025. Frisco, a top destination for sports fans, is rightfully known as “Sports City USA.”

Starting in 2025, the Dallas Open, one of the longest-running American tennis tournaments on the ATP Tour, will be in Frisco from Feb. 1-9. The event will be held at the 12,000-seat indoor stadium at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco – home to the Dallas Cowboys corporate headquarters and training facility. The art-inspired Hall Park Hotel is a short walk to The Star.

This boutique property features 224 guest rooms with sleek, contemporary furnishings, floor-to-ceiling windows, and upscale amenities. The Reserve is a collection of 60 suites that include modern lounge areas, full kitchenettes, and private balconies overlooking Frisco’s newest outdoor cultural center, Kaleidoscope Park. Guest rooms start at $275/night.

The Cresent Fort Worth

The elegant and sophisticated Cresent Hotel in the Cultural District of Fort Worth (a charming historic neighborhood) was named the No. 1 Hotel in Texas in 2024 by Condé Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards.

Visit a museum complex with building after building, including a Victorian home with time-period furnishings, a log cabin, a carriage house, and a church. Look up the Historical House Museum Complex.

South Texas

The Emily Morgan Hotel – San Antonio

The Emily Morgan Hotel, a Double Tree by Hilton, is a designated landmark in the state of Texas and was recognized by the National Register of Historic Places as part of the Alamo Plaza Historic District. The hotel is three blocks from the San Antonio River Walk and within walking distance of the La Villita Historic Arts Village.

If you’re a basketball fan, book your stay here, as it’s only a mile down the road from where the NCAA Final Four will play at the Alamodome in April 2025. The historic 1920s Emily Morgan Hotel is in downtown San Antonio, less than a mile from the Alamodome. The Emily Morgan has earned its reputation as the quintessential San Antonio hotel.

Kimpton Santo – San Antonio

This relatively new and parts-reused boutique hotel in Southtown blends historic charm and modern elegance. Kimpton Santo is an upscale hotel offering luxury travel, business travel, and packages.

Medina River Windmill Cabin

Only 20 minutes west of San Antonio, you’ll be in heaven at this adorable and cozy Airbnb cabin tucked in the woods under a 100+-year-old oak tree with no one else around. It’s big enough for two people and includes every amenity needed for the perfect romantic getaway in Texas. So stock the fridge, grab a bottle of wine, and stay forever!!

Do you like ice cream? Do you like the colors of ice cream? If you answered yes, anyone with a youthful heart will want to stay at the Casa Kumwesu in Waco, TX. Jessica Serna (My Curly Adventures) and her husband created this ice cream short-term rental house in Waco last year based on Jessica’s love of sweet desserts and the vibrant colors that she adores. Casa Kumwesu blended their two cultures for a Spanish-Bemba mix of words that essentially translates to “Our House.” Check out Casa Kumwesu and book your stay for this weekend …especially if you have young girls – they would be in heaven.

Renaissance Austin Hotel

The Renaissance Austin Hotel, a Marriott Bonvoy property, underwent a $10 million renovation in early 2024. This modern and luxury hotel in north Austin is one of the city’s largest hotels.

492 rooms, 88 suites, upscale amenities, and beautiful views of the Texas Hill Country and downtown Austin. New amenities include a cutting-edge cycling room, an expanded fitness center, a concierge lounge (The R Club), and a Governor Suite. Guest rooms start at $282/night. Pet-friendly rooms.

Hotel Van Zandt – Austin

Hotel Van Zandt recently renovated its first floor and added to its lobby bar, Brass Poppy. The bar features a cocktail program with long-forgotten classic drinks like The Grasshopper and Pink Lady. The hotel also added to its food menu, which was curated by Hotel Van Zandt’s Executive Chef Sergio Ledesma and is located in the heart of the Rainey St. District.

Wine Barrel Cabins – Fredericksburg

You’ve heard of Contesta Wagons, where you can stay overnight in a covered wagon; now, there’s a place in wine country where you can sleep in a wine barrel. This family owns five for overnight stays—very spacious and unique – Wine Barrel Cabins in Fredericksburg.

The Grand Galvez (a Marriott Bonvoy hotel) is a AAA 4-diamond historic beachfront hotel on the beautiful Texas Gulf Coast. Its history dates back to the early 1900s. My son and I were there in October, and I wrote up a hotel review Here.

East Texas

Talbot Commons – Taylor, TX

A modern boutique hotel in a 1950s building. Walking distance from downtown Taylor. Talbot Commons offers guests a chance to relax with a massage in your room. Some rooms are pet-friendly, too.

West Texas / Big Bend Country

Rustic Luxury Camp – Canyon, TX

The Rustic Luxury Camp opened its doors in September 2024, bringing the area a unique blend of luxury and nature.

Canyon, TX, is home to Palo Duro Canyon State Park, which, if you haven’t been, make it this year. Besides the state park here, the Buffalo Lake National Wildlife Refuge, the Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum, horseback riding, and a ranch where you can ride jeeps in the Canyon are also activity options for you and your family. If that’s not enough, you can see the TEXAS Outdoor Musical in the state park. As you can see, Canyon, TX, has many outdoor activities.

Angoria Hotel – San Angelo

Relax in the pool or the hot tub at the only boutique hotel in downtown San Angelo. Experience San Angelo in style at the Angoria Hotel.

The Baker Hotel and Spa – Mineral Wells

The Baker Hotel and Spa will open in 2027. It has been in the works for quite some time.
