Girls' Getaway to San Antonio Itinerary

Here is a fabulous itinerary for a luxury girls’ trip to San Antonio!

Did you know San Antonio is the number one place to visit in Texas? Well, it is, and it’s on almost every list I have researched. If you’re looking for a fun and perhaps luxurious getaway for you and your girlfriends with live music, art galleries, and popular attractions, look no further than San Antonio. When you’re ready, plan for a magical time on a girls’ getaway to San Antonio to follow or to get inspiration for your next trip or vacation.

This large city offers something for everyone with its Texas history, vibrant culture, serene riverwalk, and Tex-Mex cuisine. Trust me, there are so many things to do in SA, more than just seeing the Alamo.

A Girls’ Getaway To San Antonio Itinerary

This “perfect girl’s weekend in San Antonio” itinerary will help you make the most of your weekend with plenty of sightseeing, eating, shopping, laughing, and experiencing! But first, let me tell you about the best time to visit the city.

Girls' Getaway to San Antonio Itinerary
Hotel Emma

Best Time To Visit San Antonio

Because of its location in south Texas, San Antonio stays mild in winter. You can swim in the hotel pool in February. Winter is also a less expensive and less crowded time to visit. On the other hand, with an average temperature of 95 degrees, July and August are the hottest times to visit. Spring is probably the best time to visit San Antonio regarding the weather. If you’re planning a trip and would like the best weather possible, consider March, April, and early May for a trip.

San Antonio is an easy drive from major Texas cities like Austin, Dallas, and Houston, making it the perfect location for a Texas girls’ weekend getaway.

Travel Itinerary For A Girls’ Getaway To San Antonio

This is our luxury girls’ getaway to San Antonio. It includes what we did and the best places to go (we think so). We had the best time. It’s always good to make plans to spend with your best friends. Feel free to follow the itinerary as we did or mix it up. Either way, enjoy it all! The Alamo City is a great place to make memories with whoever is by your side. The below itinerary is for Friday night, all day Saturday, Saturday night, and Sunday morning.

There are various lodging options in the Pearl District, such as Hotel Emma (a 5-star hotel), Hotel Valencia Riverwalk (with colorful hotel rooms), San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter, and Hotel Havana (elegant accommodations in the heart of the city).

Friday Night

Historic Pearl District

Location: Just North of Downtown San Antonio

One of the most fascinating things about the Historic Pearl is that it began as one of Texas’s largest breweries and was home to the iconic Pearl Beer from 1883 to 2001. The area is now home to numerous shops, restaurants, bars, and galleries that cater to locals and tourists. This area has become one of the must-see attractions in San Antonio. Pearl District is within walking distance of all the area’s hotels, shops, and restaurants.

Cocktails: After arriving and getting settled in, head to the Historic Pearl District for a blend of a historical and contemporary scene, and grab cocktails at the Sternewirth inside Hotel Emma. Try “The Three Emmas” with rose cordial, gin, and grapefruit juice or “Professor McGonagall” with gin, honey, lime, and ginger beer. Hotel Emma is a historic hotel built inside the originally Pearl’s Brewhouse. If you have time, look around the hotel and be sure to see the rooftop pool – it’s a dream!

Restaurants In the Historic Pearl District

Dinner: Head to dinner at Cured At Pearl. Cured is a rustic-chic restaurant and market specializing in hand-crafted food. If you enjoy charcuterie boards, this is your place! The ambiance of this restaurant keeps in theme with the historic nature of the district. Much of the original building and brick is preserved inside Cured. You can even see the original foundation through the floors in sections.

More Dinner Options: Other great dining options in the Historic Pearl District include the Boiler House Texas Grill & Wine Garden (contained within the original historic Pearl Brewery boiler room) and the Bottling Dept Food Hall.

Dessert: Craving something sweet? Head to Lick Honest Ice Creams at Pearl.

Nightcap: Next up is a rooftop nightcap and a cabaret show at Paramour at The Phipps, a rooftop lounge offering city views and an evening cabaret show. Once up top, you can go straight to the rooftop lounge area, or if you purchased tickets for the Paramour Peep Show ($15 each), you would be seated within the bar area on swanky, eclectic pods of rugs and couches. Enjoy individual acts of drag performances, lip-syncing, and aerial silk acrobatics. It’s a fun and memorable way to end the evening!

mission san jose in san antonio

Saturday Morning

Mission San José

Dress in comfy, casual clothes to explore Mission San José, one of four historic Spanish missions created in San Antonio hundreds of years ago. Mission San José turned 300 years old in 2020. Known as the “Queen of the Missions,” it is the largest of the missions and is accessible for the public to explore.

Next, head to the main historic street – King William Street, to see all the gorgeous 1840s  houses designed in Greek Revival, Victorian, and Italianate styles.

Saturday Afternoon

San Antonio River Walk

Lunch: By this point, you’re probably ready for lunch. Boudro’s Texas Bistro is a solid option with delicious food on San Antonio’s Riverwalk with Texan, Tex-Mex, and Southwestern flavors. Reservations recommended.

Shopping/Boat Tour: Next up is shopping in the adorable gift shops of La Villita. It’s a cute boutique area with artisan shops, boutiques, and a few restaurants. A couple of must-visits are Bird & Pear and Villa Tesoros. If you make time in your day after shopping, you can always take a boat tour. A boat ride on the river is always a great time. The tour guides try to make their stories funny.

Wine Time: Walk 10 minutes or so through Hemisfair Park from the shops to get to Re: Rooted 210 Urban Winery for some wine tasting! It opened in February 2021 as San Antonio’s first urban winery. The winemaker, Jennifer Beckmann, may pour the wine for you and tell you about her incredible blends. There are seven wines on tap – 2 whites, one rose, and four reds. Her stories and explanations of the wines and flavor profiles make them come alive. Our favorite is her tasting room – all decked out in fabulous decor.

Dinner: Head back to the riverwalk to experience the lively area at night. Ostra at the Mokara Hotel & Spa San Antonio is a beautiful spot for dinner. Ask for a seat with views of the riverwalk while enjoying fresh oysters, warm bread & salted butter (for starters).

Night Cap: Walk to Francis Bogside on St. Mary’s Street or Bar 1919 speakeasy in the Blue Star Complex on S. Alamo for after-dinner drinks. Another one of our favorite spots with speakeasy vibes is The Esquire Tavern.

Sunday Morning

Maverick Texas Brasserie

Brunch: Before driving home from your girls’ getaway in San Antonio, stop at Maverick Texas Brasserie for brunch.

If you have time after brunch, visit the Alamo! The Alamo is a historic Spanish mission and fortress compound founded in the 18th century by Roman Catholic missionaries. Or, if you’re looking for a variety of Mexican gifts, visit Market Square in downtown San Antonio on your way home. It’s the largest Mexican market in the United States.

I hope your San Antonio girls’ trip is spectacular. For more San Antonio girls’ getaway inspiration, visit San Antonio’s website for more of the best things to do, places to stay, and places to eat.
