A Gaylord Texan Resort Family Review

I’m sharing my review of the Gaylord Texan Resort for Families.

On the outside, the resort is surrounded by acres of lush greenery, seasonal blooms in a variety of colors, trails, and parts of Lake Grapevine peeking out. The inside is just as surreal. The atrium blows my mind every time I see it. It’s filled with a multitude of live greenery and flowers, making it truly magical. This Gaylord Texan Resort family review is by Kim, owner of Texas Travel Talk.

I’ve visited the Gaylord Texan so many times that I’ve lost count. I’ve taken all my grandchildren, friends, mom, many family members, and son, Brody, and it never gets old or dull. I like how the decor changes from year to year.

If you’re wondering if you can visit the Gaylord Texan Resort without staying there overnight. The answer is yes, of course. You can enjoy the atrium, dine in the restaurants, and marvel over all the decorations (especially during the holidays). Everyone is welcome. Parking costs around $20-$25 per day.

Gaylord Texan Resort Family Review

For some, visiting Gaylord Texan Resort is a once-in-a-lifetime visit, especially during the holidays. But for others, it’s an annual occurrence. Grandparents love to spoil their grandkids here. But, whatever it is to you, live it up, spoil your family, and have a great time. There is so much to do when a particular event is happening. Otherwise, visiting the pools and Paradise Springs in summer is all the craze. Just ask your kids!

Amenities:

  • Free Public Wi-Fi throughout the resort
  • Fitness Center
  • Full-Service Spa
  • Concierge
  • Bars
  • Outdoor Pool
  • Indoor Lap Pool
  • Shops onsite
  • Escape Room
  • Walking trails
  • Water park

How To Get To Gaylord Texan Resort:

Gaylord Texan is located in Grapevine, TX, and DFW Airport services its guests. The drive from Dallas is about 30 minutes or less and about the same distance from downtown Fort Worth.

Parking: $45 Valet and $22 Self-Parking.

Tell us all about the accommodations. Any tips on what to book?

Hotel guest rooms surround the beautiful atrium, which features live greenery, a pond with large fish, a train circling its tracks, and numerous picture-worthy spots to capture those family photos. Ask for an atrium view room if possible – you’ll love it. You may get turned around because it’s so big, but signs are everywhere to show you where things are. Book early if you’re attending a special event, such as ICE!

Check-in is 4 p.m.; check-out is 11 am.

And, by the way, Gaylord Texan is in the Marriott family, so use your points wisely!

Is there a Resort Fee at Gaylord Texan?
Yes, a $26 resort fee per night includes access to the pool and fitness center.

Activities At The Gaylord Texan Resort

You and the whole family can do many things, but may I suggest taking time for yourself and booking a spa appointment?

Relâche Spa

Take a break and unwind at The Relâche Spa, which features treatment rooms, a co-ed relaxation area with complimentary drinks and snacks, lockers, a steam room, and a sauna. The spa offers a range of body treatments, massages, facials, and additional services.

Walk, Run, or Jog

Take some time to enjoy the outdoors on the concrete Gaylord Texan Trail, which offers woodland views and sightings of Grapevine Lake.

Indoor 20-meter Lap Pool

A heated pool that is always open. The pool and fitness center are at the end of the Riverwalk atrium.

Fitness Center

Outdoor Pool with Waterfall

It’s a nice pool with shade and no shade. The waterfall is lovely (my son’s favorite). There is also a bar that serves drinks and bar food. But it doesn’t stay open as long as the pool does.

Paradise Springs Water Park

Four Paradise Springs tickets are included with each room rental, and six are included with a suite. The shuttle runs every 15 minutes and takes you there and back. You’ll find me at the lazy river! A Gaylord Texan water park day pass is only for hotel guests.

Gaylord Texan Water Park hours: Mondays – Thursdays: 9 am – 7 pm
Fridays – Saturdays: 9 am – 8 pm

Restaurants At Gaylord Texan Resort

Dining options are delightful, offering everything from Mexican to fine dining, Italian, and sports bar food.

Hamburgers, beer, and large TVs. Who needs more than that?

Zeppole

Fine dining Italian cuisine. Casual dress code.

Riverwalk Cantina

Dine with the fish in the atrium at this Tex-Mex restaurant.

Old Hickory Steakhouse

Upscale, intelligent casual dress. The wine cellar opens at 5:00 p.m., and dinner is served at 5:30 p.m.

PS. Leave the kids behind.

Cocoa Bean

Open in the morning for your coffee kick. Serves Starbucks coffee and sweets. Closes early.

Mission Plaza Marketplace

Coffee, hot chocolate, ice cream, drinks, and a variety of snack items. Open all the time.

Bites at the outdoor pool and the waterpark

Grapevine is a much-desired town to visit, and the historic downtown Grapevine is a great place to start. So, you’ll want to make sure to visit during the holidays. With everything festive at the Gaylord Texan and Main Street decked out for the holidays, this would make a few kids giggle …and you!
