If you’re heading out to the Hill Country for wine, here’s a list of wineries that serve food.

More and more wineries are serving food, not just charcuterie boards, but full meals as well. Texas Travel Talk conducted research and found Texas Hill Country wineries that serve food. Visiting wineries for wine tastings or a glass of wine is so much fun and relaxing, and the Hill Country is where you’ll want to be. But sometimes food is necessary to satisfy our hunger pains. Not all wineries in the area serve food. Today, I’m listing the ones that do! I’ve had some excellent meals at a few.

Update: Many new wineries have sprouted up, which I haven’t visited yet, so I might have missed a few.

Eating lunch or small bites is almost necessary when you’re out and about, hopping around the wineries all day, especially during one of the Texas Wine Trails. You wouldn’t want to drink wine all day on an empty stomach.

Texas Hill Country Wineries That Serve Food

Texas wine country is booming in these small towns in the Hill Country. Every small town has at least three, maybe more, except Fredericksburg, which has many. There is no need to plan to visit Napa Valley when you have the best Texas wineries in the Texas Hill Country (and all over Texas).

Did you know that the Lone Star State is the fifth-largest wine-producing state?

Worth Knowing:

  • If you want to know about wine pairings, ask your server.
  • With most wineries in the area, reservations are recommended, and some are even required. Some wineries require reservations, and some do not. I’ll do my best to let you know which ones require reservations and which don’t. But always check before you go.
  • Some wineries produce award-winning and world-class wines that are worth trying.
  • Wine tastings are fun; you might discover your favorite wines during these experiences.
  • Expect to pay $20-$30 for wine tasting in this area unless you have purchased a Wine Trail Passport. More about that is below.

What is the Texas Hill Country Wine Trail?

In case you didn’t know, the Texas Wine Trail hosts four Texas Wine Trails throughout the year in the Texas Hill Country. They are as follows:

  1. February – Lovers Celebration
  2. April – Wine & Wildflower Journey
  3. October – Texas Wine Month Passport (all month long)
  4. December – Christmas Wine Affair

You’ll probably want to eat at one winery for lunch when using the passport and visiting four wineries a day, tasting five to six wines at each place. And, who knows, you may find your favorite bottle of wine.

That’s what we did on our very first wine passport during the Lover’s Celebration in February. I found my favorite wine and now consider myself a wine enthusiast. Update: I’ve been back to this area at least five times.

Texas Hill Country Wineries That Serve Food

Fiesta Winery in Lometa (North Hill Country)

Brick-oven pizza, cream cheese & crackers with raspberry and pineapple sauces, a meat & cheese plate, and more. Sounds good to me!! Dogs are welcome outside. Fiesta Winery Lometa opens at 10 am, Monday through Saturday, and at 11 am on Sunday.

Torr Na Lochs – Burnet

Torr Na Lochs Vineyard & Winery (Burnet)

This winery serves a cheese plate, a charcuterie board, a bruschetta platter, salad, and paninis (pizza on occasional weekends only). Torr Na Lochs is located at 7055 W State Hwy 29, just 6.5 miles west of Burnet. It sits high above the Colorado River Valley in Central Texas, offering gorgeous views of Inks Lake and Buchanan Lake. I visited here in February, and in my opinion, it has the best winery view. Enjoy outdoor seating here overlooking the river. My panini was delicious and went well with my glass of Cabernet Sauvignon.

Flat Creek Winery – Hummus dip

Flat Creek Estate (way out in Marble Falls)

Ellera at Flat Creek offers everything from grab-and-go bites to a whole wine-and-dine experience. Small bites are served at the winery, but the restaurant has a full menu.

Texas Hill Country Wineries that serve food
Farmhouse Vineyards – Johnson City

Farmhouse Vineyard (Johnson City)

It offers charcuterie boards, and they are good! Farmhouse Vineyards is one of my favorite places for wine tastings. They also have a gift shop with jams, t-shirts, bath and body, and other fun stuff.

William Chris Vineyards (Hye on Hwy 290)

Winery with a visitor center, contemporary tasting rooms & a patio cafe, plus live music at weekends. William Chris Vineyards requires reservations. The Vineyard Table Experience

Kuhlman Cellars (Stonewall)

You’ll have your choice of charcuterie boards, sandwiches, shareable bites, snacks, and more at the Bistro at Kuhlman Cellars.

Pedernales Falls State Park – Johnson City

Pedernales Cellars

A Cheese Plate is available at Pedernales Cellars

Becker Vineyards

Charcuterie cheese plates are available while they last. It’s best to order when you first arrive. No reservations are required for small groups at Becker Vineyard in Stonewall.

Spicewood Vineyards

Sells cheese and charcuterie boards, and also welcomes outside food. Kids and dogs are welcome here. They have a lovely area outside. Spicewood Vineyards sounds like my kind of place.

Dripping Springs / Driftwood

These wineries are the closest to downtown Austin & Dripping Springs on Hwy 290, which is considered the Gateway to the Hill Country from Austin.

Fall Creek Vineyards

Fall Creek Vineyards in Driftwood offers wine pairings with cheese boards, chocolate, and other sweet treats. They are located across from Salt Lick BBQ. You’ll have no problem finding good food here. Fall Creek Vineyards is a lovely winery that offers overnight lodging, too.

Duchman Family Winery

This family-owned winery, Duchman Family Winery, specializes in Italian varieties made from Texas grapes, offering cellar tours & tastings. House-made pizzas are available Thursdays to Sundays, 12 to 6 p.m. They also provide private tastings for larger groups. Have your pizza under their beautiful Texas oak trees—reservations are required.

Driftwood Estate Winery

The winery is open every day to adults 21+ only. The Bistro is open until 8:00 p.m., Thursday through Saturday, for dining with both inside and outside seating.

Bell Springs Winery

Bell Springs Winery in Dripping Springs offers chef-prepared food from a food truck. Live music most weekends. No reservations are required here.

Grape Creek Vineyards

Fredericksburg Wineries That Serve Food

Grape Creek Vineyards

This winery specializes in French and Italian varietals, offering tours and Tuscan-inspired tasting rooms. I was excited that this winery has a full restaurant, BUT it’s only for wine club members. Grape Creek Vineyards has three locations—two in Fredericksburg and one in Georgetown.

Reservations are highly recommended here, if not already required.

Inwood Estates Vineyards And Bistro

Thirty-seven years of making wine in Texas. And they are pioneers of my favorite wine—Tempranillo. Inwood Estates Vineyards & Bistro is located on Wine Road (Hwy 290) and serves wine bites, including cheese boards, meat and cheese boards, hummus, salads, and more.

Reservations are recommended but not required.
