Exploring The Top Amusement Parks in Texas. Batman ride Six Flags

Exploring top amusement parks in Texas with family.

When it comes to heart-pumping adventures and family fun, Texas knows how to deliver. You can find a great collection of amusement parks for the whole family, offering everything from family-friendly rides to thrilling roller coasters that thrill seekers will love. There’s something for everyone at these top amusement parks in Texas.

Texas Amusement Parks are an excellent option for spending a whole day of fun and adventure with your family. These types of parks have helped us create great memories with our kids since they were little.

Whether you’re looking for exciting thrill rides that nobody in your family will ride beside you, or you’re searching for the main attractions and the good food (ice cream), get ready to make lots of memories.

Exploring The Top Amusement Parks in Texas

A List Of 8 Top Amusement Parks in Texas

  1. Six Flags Over Texas – Arlington
  2. SeaWorld San Antonio – San Antonio
  3. Six Flags Fiesta Texas – San Antonio
  4. Kemah Boardwalk – Galveston
  5. ZDT’s Amusement Park
  6. Wonderland Amusement Park – Amarillo
  7. Morgan’s Wonderland – San Antonio
  8. Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier

These are the best amusement parks in Texas, and Six Flags Over Texas is the biggest amusement park out of all these. The amusement parks with water rides are a great option on days like today when it’s 107 degrees in Texas. Yikes, that’s too hot even for us Texans!

Six Flags Over Texas – Arlington

Located in Arlington, Six Flags Over Texas is a legendary theme park known for its thrilling roller coasters, such as the iconic Texas Giant (now New Texas Giant), a steel hybrid roller coaster with a steep drop 79- degree drop. This one and the Titan are my kids’ favorite coasters from this park. The DFW’s largest park offers various rides, live entertainment, and family-friendly attractions.

You can also meet and greet Looney Tunes characters such as Bugs, Lola, and Daffy at the Bugs Bunny boomtown. Enjoy unlimited rides all day and all night.

Kemah Boardwalk – Galveston

Situated on Galveston Bay and a short drive from downtown Houston, Kemah Boardwalk offers a great blend of rides, entertainment, and dining. My favorite thing about this charming theme park is the waterfront views from the rides. It features the Boardwalk Bullet, a classic wooden roller coaster reaching speeds of over 51mph, carnival-style games, an arcade, a 65-foot Ferris wheel, a Boardwalk Tower with panoramic bay vistas, and rides for all ages.

You can find restaurants, several specialty shops, and shows every day.

SeaWorld San Antonio – San Antonio

What I like about this park is the mix of rides and experiences. You can immerse yourself in a world of marine life and enjoy thrilling rides at SeaWorld San Antonio. Our favorite rides are the wooden rollercoaster – the Texas Stingray, part water ride, part coaster (the tallest, fastest & longest wooden coaster in Texas), Journey to Atlantis, and the family favorite is the Wave Breaker in a jet-ski-style car.

Enjoy outdoor shows featuring majestic orcas, playful dolphins, and acrobatic sea lions. Children can cool off at the family-friendly Sesame Street Bay of Play, take pictures with Elmo and other characters, and enjoy rides for little kids.

Look for the all-new Catapult Falls – the world’s first launched flume coaster featuring the world’s steepest flume drop!

ZDT’s Amusement Park – Seguin

Located in Seguin, Texas, a few miles from San Antonio. ZDT’s Amusement Park is a hidden gem that offers a family-friendly experience. The electric Go-Karts with the multi-level track are our favorite. This park features a variety of attractions, including an iconic Switchback roller coaster, a one-of-a-kind wooden shuttle coaster with 6 miles per hour, electric Go-Karts, and other thrilling rides such as the Parachute Drop and Dizzy Toucan spinning ride.

Six Flags Fiesta Texas – San Antonio

Located in San Antonio, TX, Six Flags Fiesta Texas features more than 60 rides, including thrilling coasters like BATMAN™: The Ride, a world-class 4D Free Fly, The SkyScreamer, a 20 stories breathtaking tall tower, and exciting water slides, a lazy river and a wave pool, and so much more.

One of my family’s favorites is Dr. Diabolical’s Cliffhanger. Fiesta Texas also offers family rides that young children will love, like Bugs’ White Water Rapids, with a 30-foot hill dropping into a water adventure. Kids can splash at S.S. Overboard Play Zone, a water-themed outdoor playground.

And you can’t leave the park without visiting the German-themed Village called  Spassburg, dedicated to German heritage in Texas. The village is home to Bugs’ White Water Rapids and SkyScreamer. This park also offers live shows and is open year-round.

Wonderland Amusement Park – Amarillo

This amusement park in Amarillo is a classic family destination. It offers a range of rides, from gentle attractions for younger children to thrilling experiences for older visitors. The park features a wooden roller coaster, a Ferris wheel, water rides, miniature golf, and various carnival-style games. The park’s highlight is a thrilling double-loop steel roller coaster called the Texas Tornado. It also has a fantastic area full of arcade games.

Morgan’s Wonderland – San Antonio

A one-of-a-kind amusement park that provides inclusive entertainment for people of all abilities. It’s a park for everyone. It features more than 25 accessible rides, sensory attractions, a carousel, a sand area, a 1930’s style train, and a water play area. It also includes interactive shows like the All-access Block party where everybody can dance.

They have restaurants with theme park food and a merchandise gift store.

Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier – Galveston

Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier is a world-class amusement park with incredible scenery and fun. It offers exciting rides and attractions, including the Iron Shark Rollercoaster, a carousel, a Ferris wheel for the little ones, a 5D theater ride, Texas Star Flyer, and midway games. It’s an entertainment complex with various dining options and shopping areas.

Pro Tip: You must buy a Pier Pass to enter the Pleasure Pier.

Kiddie Park – San Antonio

It’s an old-fashioned theme park, renovated in 2009. Kiddie Park is located in San Antonio, TX, and is designed for kids ages 1-12. This colorful park features an old-fashioned Ferris Wheel, a water boat ride for the kids, a famous hand-carved carousel, and more. Adults can ride with their kids on some of the family rides.

When visiting these top amusement parks in the summer months, expect long lines, hot weather, and major thirst, so pack your patience and enjoy the ride. Check each respective website for more information. Most of them are open all year round.
