Vinyl nights and diverse musical genres and talents make Austin, TX, a vibrant music city!

There’s never a shortage of music in Austin, Texas. With festivals and conferences like Austin City Limits and SXSW, and music venues on nearly every corner, it’s no wonder that Austin is the live music capital of the world. We all know that Austin can make the perfect vacation for all, but if it’s good music you want, the good vibes and euphoric energy don’t have to stop once the concert or festival is over. Throughout the city, there are hotels that cater to the audio aficionado within you. Book your next hotel at one of Austin’s best hotels for music lovers.

Aligning with the city’s melodic vibrance, many of Austin’s best hotels host live music performances in the lobby, DJ sets at the bars or near the pool, or vinyl nights in the restaurants. Some hotels even offer guests record players in their room —that way they can load up that hot new record you purchased at Waterloo and give it a spin.

The show goes on from morning to night, and for your next visit to the Lone Star Capitol, we’ve queued up some of the best hotels for music lovers. So throw these in the mix and keep them in rotation, because you’re bound to get lost in the sounds of the city.

1. Aloft Austin Downtown

As far as chains go, Aloft Hotels always come in clutch. The minimalistic room design gives an artsy loft feel, and large windows offer stunning views of downtown. Visitors are just steps away from Austin’s infamous 6th Street bar district, as well as the State Capitol and the Congress Bridge, where they can watch bats take flight through the gorgeous Texas night sky.

Guests can also enjoy a nice night dining on New American cuisine at Caroline, or grab a nightcap at the rooftop bar while listening to some acoustic tunes from a live band. Or dancing to the grooves of a DJ set.

2. Austin Proper

If you’re coming to town for Austin City Limits, Blues on the Green, or any of the Capitol’s revered music series, the Austin Proper hotel is just steps away from Zilker Park. But for those not wanting to tread too far, the hotel also offers nightly sound sessions, which are acoustic and jazz performances in the Proper’s Quill Room, and DJ sets by the pool.

Additionally, the hotel boasts 238 rooms, four unique restaurant offerings, and a lush wellness spa. But no matter where you go, you’re never too far from the music.

3. Downright Austin

Channel your inner cowboy at the Downright, which is located within walking distance of the Red River District. Those who love country music, look no further, as the Downright is just steps away from several live music venues—so put on your Alvies and look forward to a grand time.

Each room contains cutesy Texas-style decorations, like embroidered pillows and leather furnishings. Plus, begin and end each day with tacos at Morningbird and Downright Dining.

4. The Driskill

Located inside an old 19th-century building, The Driskill is Austin’s oldest operating hotel. Situated in the middle of Austin’s 6th Street bar district, the hotel is just a hop and a skip away from several dives and performance lounges. Whether you’re into soul, rock, country, jazz, or Latin music, all of these sounds are within arm’s reach.

5. The Line Austin

The Line Austin has a rich music history. The building used to be home to a jazz club that broadcast live on local radio stations. Though the space has been upgraded in the years since, music and art are still at the heart of The Line. On any given day, guests can mellow out to music while a DJ sets the mood by the saltwater pool. And by night, acoustic performances in the lobby with a glass of wine from Arlo Grey in hand are the perfect way to spend an evening—especially while beholding all the gorgeous works of art.

6. Lone Star Court

A weekend in Austin is not complete without a live show, and the urban retreat Lone Star Court hotel makes sure you won’t miss a minute. On Thursday through Saturday evenings, guests can look forward to live music at Lone Star Court’s Water Trough stage. Those who love country and rock will have a rip-roaring good time dancing the night away to local independent acts and cover bands, which will get guests nicely acquainted with the city’s music scene.

In each room are iPhone and iPad docking stations, designed to look like old-fashioned radios, to keep the tunes in rotation all night long.

7. South Congress Hotel

As its name suggests, the South Congress Hotel is located directly in Austin’s famed South Congress district. Very few things beat stepping out onto SoCo and enjoying live music at restaurants and dive bars. Singer/songwriter sets take place every weekend on the outdoor patio at Guero’s Tacos, but the hotel is also steps away from Austin’s best jazz club, Elephant Room.

We recommend staying in one of the Bouldin suites, which overlooks many shops, restaurants, and music venues. On the First Thursday of each month, guests can enjoy live performances on the rooftop from artists of various genres and shop from local vendors.

8. Thompson Austin

The Thompson Austin + tommie Austin encompasses the essence of Austin — good food, live music, and art. The hotel boasts several great dining options, including festive Latin cuisine at Arriba Abajo Rooftop Cantina and cozy American classics at Fifth Street Diner. There is plenty of art, as guests can enjoy poolside movies, as well as live music multiple times a week.

For those wanting to bring the music back to their room, all suites contain a record player as well as a curated selection of vinyls by Austin’s iconic blues venue, Antone’s.
